Anyone know who was covering tonight's Twenty20 stuff and Saturday's FP Trophy final for Five Live Sports Extra?

Monday 27th July - talkSPORT

Twenty20 Cup Quarter Finals
Kent v Durham - Jon Norman
Sussex v Warwickshire - Mike Bovill

Monday Night Racing
Windsor Racecourse - Ian Abrahams

Will anyone be able to keep tabs on who's doing the other Twenty20 Cup Quarter Finals on talkSPORT tomorrow and Wednesday?

I'll *probably* be unable to listen.

Thursday 30th July to Monday 3rd August - talkSPORT

Third Ashes Test Match
England v Australia, Edgbaston - Jack Bannister, Darren Gough (in-game updates), Dominic Cork (co-host of the Sports Breakfast) & Andrew McKenna (previews and morning sports news).

As for the rescheduled Twenty20 Cup Quarter Finals today, I don't think talkSPORT have a reporter at the Northamptonshire v Hampshire game and I don't imagine they would have bothered having someone at the bowl-off between Lancashire and Somerset.

A shame as the station had reporters at Monday's first two Quarter Finals, I guess they wouldn't have been able to assign reporters at such short notice to the rescheduled games what with them being re-arranged so quickly.

TMS

Aggers, Jim Maxwell and CMJ (Though CMJ missed day 1 due to suspected swine flu)

Vic Marks, Geoff Boycott were amoung the summerisers, I'm sure there'll be an Aussie one as well, though Ian Chappell has gone home

I left this one alone yesterday as I thought it was a bit strange that only two main commentators were used - although I thought this was because of the truncated amount of play, not because CMJ had gone down with a suspected case of swine flu!

The TMS team is as follows:

Thursday 30th July to Monday 3rd August - BBC Test Match Special

Third Ashes Test Match
England v Australia, Edgbaston - Jonathan Agnew, Christopher Martin-Jenkins & Jim Maxwell (commentators) with Geoffrey Boycott, Vic Marks & Matthew Hayden (summarisers)

Haven't heard any of the roving reporters/BBC reporters on other stations yet, so if anyone has feel free to add them here.

St. Helens V Wigan Warriors (engage Super League RL) - Stuart Pyke (St. H) Dave Woods (Wigan) and Brian Carney for R5L with commentary from about the 16th minute.

Dave Woods came up with a brilliant but bizarre turn of phrase in describing Wigan's try by Sam Tomkins in that (whilst watching the TV replays) saying that in order for the Video referee to make his decision "...was like watching an episode of Quincy. Your not quite sure whose hands it is!".

Alistiar Yeomans reported on Hull V Huddersfield Giants.

Cricket: Third Test (Edgbaston) Leigh James
R/U: South Africa v New Zealand (Durban) Ken Borland
Swimming (Rome) Chris Mitchell and Steve Parry

There is a report in the Football Commentators forum that long-time football and BBC Radio Manchester Rugby League commentator Keith Macklin has passed away. RIP Keith.

Additional TMS reporters - Alison Mitchell (roving reporter in the ground, doing interviews) and Kevin Howells (reporting on the Durham v Sussex game and doing a County Championship round-up, his reports were also taken by Five Live). Malcolm Ashton was heard as their scorer.

Reporters used elsewhere:

BBC Five Live

England v Australia, Edgbaston - Mark Pougatch, Pat Murphy & Jason Gillespie

Windsor Racecourse - Ian Abrahams

Adam Mountford, in his BBC blog, suggests Lily Allen might be a Lunch Break guest at some point during the Fourth Test.

I think I'll be popping the dial over to hear Jack Bannister's take on talkSPORT if/when that happens.

County cricket reporter from today (Thursday August 4):

BBC Five Live

County Championship
Kent v Middlesex - Steve May

Friday 7th August to Tuesday 11th August - talkSPORT

Fourth Ashes Test Match
England v Australia, Headingley - Jack Bannister, Darren Gough (in-game updates), Ronnie Irani (co-host of the Sports Breakfast), Dominic Cork (scheduled to be on during shows over the weekend) & Ian Abrahams (previews and morning sports news).

For BBC Five Live, the reporting team is Pat Murphy, Alec Stewart and Jason Gillespie. They have been joined by presenter Mark Radcliffe today and on Monday and Tuesday (should it go on that long - doubtful I know ), Drive host Peter Allen is due to be with them.

I like to be complete with the details I post.

Friday 7th August to Tuesday 11th August - BBC Test Match Special

Fourth Ashes Test Match
England v Australia, Headingley - Jonathan Agnew, Henry Blofeld & Jim Maxwell (commentators) with Geoffrey Boycott, Phil Tufnell & Matthew Hayden (summarisers).

And just for you 4-4-2, Malcom Ashton is the scorer.

BBC Radio 5 Live won't have any Twenty20 Cup Finals Day commentary on their AM station but will have all their coverage, including the Final (7:15pm) on 5 Live Sports Extra.

talkSPORT are doing updates/reports during the day for the semi-final matches but will be doing commentary on all frequencies (AM, DAB, digital TV etc) on the Final from 7:00pm with Andrew McKenna, Dominic Cork, Darren Gough and Ronnie Irani.

Do you know if the station is planning to do DAB commentaries on the Semi-Finals, or is it just going to be updates on those matches? I imagine the station would have announced it somewhere but I guess it's worth a check.

Must say I'm a bit disappointed if those four are to be the sole commentators talkSPORT use on Saturday, as I'd been hoping the excellent Neil Manthorp would be involved. Now that his Cricket Circus series has ended - has Manthorp returned to his native South Africa?

Tuesday 11th August - BBC WM/Coventry & Warwickshire (online stream)

County Championship Division 1, Day 1 of 4
Nottinghamshire v Warwickshire - Mike Taylor commentating (and also reporting for BBC WM and C&W) with Brian Halford (from the Birmingham Mail) & Kevin Howells (Five Live) summarising.

With Mike Taylor at the cricket, and Mark Regan, Rob Gurney and Dan Wheeler all due to be presenting tonight, I wonder if WM has anyone left to report on the West Brom/Walsall League Cup ties tonight!

Anyone know if anybody is providing commentary on the two day game between Australia and the England Lions on Saturday and Sunday?

The second day would be a good one for Five Live Sports Extra, and with the game taking place at Canterbury perhaps it could be one for BBC Radio Kent's webstream?

That would be rather pointless as it is the 20 over finals day this Saturday, which includes Kent.

Fair point, I imagine they shall be covering those games as well as the local football.

Had remembered Twenty20 Cup finals day would prevent Five Live Sports Extra coverage, just I'd forgotten the teams playing in it!

It was Mike Taylor & Brian Halford in the box on day 2, with Richard Wilford leading the commentary (and providing updates for the two stations) alongside Brian today.

To cap this one off, Richard Wilford and Kevin Howells were the commentators for today's final day of play as the game petered out as a draw.

Saggers has just said that Paul Nixon and Chris Cowdrey are also involved too. Clearly, the trail may have been quite wrong.

Saturday 15th August - talkSPORT

Twenty20 Cup Final
Sussex v Somerset, Edgbaston - Andrew McKenna (also presenter), Ronnie Irani, Chris Cowdrey and Paul Nixon (full commentary)

Andrew McKenna was also the reporter on the two semi-finals (Sussex v Kent and Somerset v Northamptonshire) during talkSPORT's Matchday Live and Call Collymore shows.

I listened to virtually every ball, and contrary to the stations' trailers, Darren Gough and Dominic Cork were not part of the talkSPORT commentary team.

Simon Mann was reporting on the semi-finals for BBC Radio Five Live, but I wasn't able to hear any of their coverage on Five Live Sports Extra.

Must say that the talkSPORT coverage was excellent, I was particularly pleased to hear Chris Cowdrey back on the station. I missed hearing him commentate during Talk's coverage of the World Twenty20 so it's good to have him back.
