Hello all, i ordered and reserved a THOMSON DT16021-50 ONLINE FROM ARGOS on friday to pick up as it showed only 3 in stock, my brother set it up today for me as i had to go out somewhere, just got home and realised it's not a thomson but a LUXOR TUTV 500 GB, i want the thomson one so intend taking it back tomorrow, but it says on the receipt EXEMPT from 30 day guarantee, obviously they gave me the wrong one, even on the receipt it says thomson dt16021-50
So i assume i can take it back.....am i right

It would appear that almost ALL Argos stores are claiming to have the Thomson 500GB in stock....but this isn't the case.

I would keep the Luxor if I were you.

The Luxor has the advantage of a display on the front which tells you the time in standby, what channel you're watching, and how far through a recording you are. Also the card sits behind a push soft release flap.

The Luxor is a Vestel variant, which is virtually the same as the Wharfedale, Digihome and Sharp models.

Why do you want the Thomson model?

Just that my other was a thomson, and i no nothing about any other makes regarding stability- bugs etc,etc i think i'll follow your advice ironeagle and stick with it, i suppose i've got the 12 month guarantee to fall back on if anything goes wrong, do the Wharfedale, Digihome and Sharp models seem a good buy, maybe others will be able to confirm, thanks for the advice.

Yes, noted that at my local Argos earlier today.

Was told that any store where the Thomson catalogue number is showing as "in stock" then it will be substituted with a Luxor.

So if you order a Thomson 250 GB then you will be given a Luxor 250 GB and if you order a Thomson 500 GB then you will be given a Luxor 500 GB.

That's good.

Keep the Luxor and you should only consider taking it back unless it becomes faulty. Argos are going to be very fussy if you take it back to them on the grounds of you were expecting to receive a Thomson.

The Luxor, Wharfedale and Sharp models do have their advantages over the Thomson like the front LED counter for example.
