I'm finding these 2 dancer so smug and big headed that I really do wish they would end up in the bottom 2 so maybe they wouldn't be so arrogant.

The Saturday Night Fever group dance was so all about them. They had to be out in the front and show off and the women didn't get a look in. I'm getting tired of it. And then at every opportunity Tom & Austin mention each other and it all seems very childish and very boring.

Yes, they are great dancers, but it isn't always about them and I would love to wipe their arrogance from their faces. Tom is by far the worse.

Arlene was the one to choreograph the routine, so it's not really either of their faults that they were at the front for part of it - the women had their turn at the front too. Also, they're good friends, so they will mention each other from time to time.

Another thread about "smug"ness. Seriously, I don't think either of them are smug, especially Tom! He comes across as really nervous, and when he does well he looks genuinely excited/shocked. I honestly don't get where this "smug" thing has come from in regards to him! (Don't think Austin is "smug" either tbh!) The fact is, they're both really good dancers, so even if they were smug it would kind of be deservedly so...

Some people clearly feel oddly threatened when someone is confident in their abilities.

I find neither Tom nor Austin arrogant - they are both very good dancers and are not afraid to show that. So what?

I couldn't agree more- Tom was annoying me but I think now that its nerves from him and then he behaves in a fairly young way- not sure but thats it for me.

They are clearly supportive of each other- Tom was there when Austin was getting his finger clicked back in on Saturday.

SNF is about the men- have you seen the film! I thought they both did well and it was a great, fun number.

yep Tom did used to annoy me a lot especially with the whole W****** thing but I find him far more bearable now. Austin is confident - nothing wrong with that. They get on well with each other, last men standing and all that so good luck to them

Austin is clearly annoyed Rachel has stolen his thunder, making snippy comments backstage. I really think the judges would save Rachel over Austin, and probably anyone in the competition. What happens in the final is of course, another matter.

So mature of you to , listen to what he said with an open mind. The bit where he said "Unbelievable" gave the game away. He was narked, and it showed. His ballroom is competent and technically good, but his latin really blows - which is, IMO, the key to winning this series. Everyone's good at ballroom but someone with a massive breakthrough in latin could win.

I am sorry but I haven't heard anything snippy from Austin? What did he say and when did he say it?

Rachel herself said Unbelievable about her score- and I couldnt' agree more with her- it was unbelieveable it got 40!

Austin is having a great time and has been cheering the others on as far as I can see.

O dear, what a shame, snippy comments, i dont think so. He was clearly supporting Rachael, saying how amazing it was that she got 40. In no way did he come across as being annoyed. I really find this Austin bashing hard to bear as the poor bloke has clearly done nothing wrong. Please go and invent something else.

I suspect every year the support of the celberities for each other is better than we would realise , especially as the BBC does it's best to foster an atmosphere of competition and rivalry
Alright , it is there for the sportspeple in particular , but the support is there too .
Feline , I agree about the 40/40 but I do have an idea why she got it !

Austin is Austin ; he wasn't known as the Leicester Lip for no reason , but I haven''t heard anyone" bad mouthing " the other couples .

I must have missed that even though I watched it all.

Whereas one could argue that Rachel just does it wearing pants in the newspaper...

I agree I wish they'd be in the bottom two and Austin go. I actually really like Erin and would love her to win some time but I don't think Austin is the best dancer and therefore I don't want him to win. I was saying to my husband that I couldn't understand why people were raving about Austin's looks, as I didn't think he was attractive at all. My husband said "He's a rugby player. That's all there is to it. Rugby players and cricket players are always popular and pull in the votes irrespective of their dancing, that's why Darren Gough "won"."

I have clearly missed Austin being annoyed or making snide comments, he is funny and his sense of humour is great.

Why is it when anyone is funny or witty, they are accused of being smug or bitchy?

I think Austin has an amazing relationship with Erin, is training really hard, he is at the top of the leaderboard for hours put in, and it goes against him. He hasnt made jokes about his muscles - that would be Tess, he hasnt been nasty about other celebs, and hes been a joy to watch. I hope him and Erin are in the final, preferably with Tom as i think they are both better than Rachel and both have personalities!!!

It gave me pause when Austin said 'unbelievable' on Sunday, but then I thought about it and decided he didn't mean to be remotely bitchy - he meant it in a sort of 'dream come true' way rather than a 'it could never happen' way. Bad choice of word, maybe, but snippy comment, definitely not.

And to be honest, whoever is in the bottom two now, it's going to be a pretty fantastic dance-off and a gripping result

It would certainly be interesting to see Tom 'tested'. He's always been fairly high up the leaderboard, so we don't really know what his public support is like. If these two did end up in the bottom two, (unlikely!) I wonder which the judges would vote to keep...

I would like to see Austin in the bottom two but it's unlikely whilst the judges continue to overmark his Latin dances.

Len seems to really favour Austin and as his vote is so important, the other three would have to pick Tom to keep him in (which could well happen). I think it would all come down to the actual dance. It would be a fascinating situation, but I agree it's unlikely to happen (except perhaps in the semi final).

Darren Gough won at a time when it wasn't clear that a man could win. He won because of his partnership with Lilia, her fantastic choreography, his improvement, personality... The fact that he was a cricketer wasn't the most important thing about him. I haven't supported any of the sportsmen who followed him. It's the judges, particularly Len, who like Rugby and cricket players because they train hard.

I agree with you that Rachel was overmarked this week but it hasn't always been the case. Austin may have the footwork but he doesn't have the hip action and there was little real content in his cha cha cha or his rhumba. '35' was a ridiculous mark for what Austin actually did. All the judges really had to say was that it was cheeky. You only have to watch the group dance to see how much he is outdanced by Tom.

Another post about someone being 'smug'. Craig used the word at the beginning of the series and now that's all we hear. I don't think any of them are smug but it seems to be the insult of choice at present.

Yeah. Absolutely.

If posters are so determined to insult people with no real basis (the original post being the most tenuous set of reasons I've seen this season and that says a lot!) you'd think they could at least be original!!!

I've lost count of how many accusations of 'smug' there have been this season (mostly directed at Tom and Austin - god knows why. I can't see it, personally. Maye some people have personal axes to grind? I can't think of any other explanation!).

I don't want to see either in the dance-off just yet! (Actually, I'd personally prefer no more dance-offs. I think we should just have them all dance till the final and have the public choose the winner from who's left. I know, I know, this is not the way it's done - but I like them all!!!).
