I agree I wish they'd be in the bottom two and Austin go. I actually really like Erin and would love her to win some time but I don't think Austin is the best dancer and therefore I don't want him to win. I was saying to my husband that I couldn't understand why people were raving about Austin's looks, as I didn't think he was attractive at all. My husband said "He's a rugby player. That's all there is to it. Rugby players and cricket players are always popular and pull in the votes irrespective of their dancing, that's why Darren Gough "won"."
This is just rubbish, Darren Gough won because he learnt to dance and perform well which is just what Austin is doing.
Give the man a break!!

I don't know... Everyone else has had a thread or two bitching about them and saying how awful they are, (except perhaps Jodie? I can't remember). Tom certainly has, as has Rachel, Christine and Lisa. Austin's avoided it so far. It's just his turn.

Perhaps. I think he certainly won because of his improvement. That's what swung it for him. Even in the Final, he wasn't the best dancer by any stretch of the imagination.

I've lost count of how many accusations of 'smug' there have been this season (mostly directed at Tom and Austin - god knows why.
I'm beginning to wish the s-word was a banned word on this site and it only came up with ****.

Craig said Tom looked smug, he didn't actually say he was. I can see his point. Tom gave that impression visually but personality wise I don't think he is.

Absolutely. And so those who have taken a dislike to him (how, when they don't know him personally, is a mystery to me!) have leapt upon that comment and used it to attack his personality instead!

I'm with you, Claire. I really wish that 'smug' (and any derivitive thereof) would be deemed a banned word on this site!). Maybe people would then have to look for other insults (unfortunately, they would find them, too!)

I think the constant banging on about Darren not being the best is by people who never watched the series, or at least watched a different one to me.

Colin had a lot of techie faults. Zoe was the best performer. The best all rounder was Darren. He was remarkable. Perhaps people could take a look at his waltz and foxtrot then report back.

As for wanting the two best dancers in the comp to be down in the bottom together, that is pathetic. Both of them were thoroughly great on the disco and made me grin very wide.

I guess that if you're an actor you have a couple of actions:
1 you adopt a bouncy-Tigger persona (Tom) and just do your best and lurrrrrve it
2 you maintain an icy poise (Cherie) and pretend to be unaffected by the judges and public's opinion

This is because I believe actors don't really have personalities of their own so they have to get one off the shelf for the occasion.

So Tom appears jolly-muppet and annoys people.
And Cherie seems hoity-toity and annoys the rest.

Austin is just very competitive and gobby. Some people think those are attractive qualities and others don't.

I don't care much now that Jodie and John have gone.
I'm waiting to be dazzled by something or someone.

Let's face it. Alesha was a good dancer but it was a certain je-ne-sais-quoi that really grabbed the public.
I think it's known as the X-factor......

To be honest I'm kind of hoping for a Austin vs Tom final. It would be the most exciting and competitive one.

Lisa I think will be out next and Rachel bores the hell out of me but I wouldn't mind Christine doing well. She would be so shocked to even make the final.

I am hoping for a Austin v Tom final too.

I dislike all of these remarks thrown at the 2 boys - the 'arrogant', 'smug' & 'cocky' tag. All i see is 2 talented guys who are great mates backstage and are enjoying their dancing. Both have been very good from the start and they have been consistent throughout the series, hence why they deserves a place in the final.

Hey,

If you didn't like the opening thread or you're sick of people using the word "smug" why did you come on this thread then?

There are plenty of other threads. If you don't like a thread then ignore it and move to another one.

Simple isn't it?

I'm finding the volume of support for Christine depressing. I wish she'd gone rather than Jodie. I would like her out next.

If Tom and Austin were in a dance-off, all the current evidence suggests that the survivor would be the guaranteed winner of the series. A Tom v Austin final would be the only contest with any suspense.

I'm finding these 2 dancer so smug and big headed that I really do wish they would end up in the bottom 2 so maybe they wouldn't be so arrogant.

The Saturday Night Fever group dance was so all about them. They had to be out in the front and show off and the women didn't get a look in. I'm getting tired of it. And then at every opportunity Tom & Austin mention each other and it all seems very childish and very boring.

Yes, they are great dancers, but it isn't always about them and I would love to wipe their arrogance from their faces. Tom is by far the worse.
I am soooooooo sick and tired of the "smug" debate!
Would you rather see Tom and Austin move around the floor with a sheepish look on their faces? They are young(ish), fit, gifted. Why on earth can't they joke and banter? If they stop doing it, there will be somebody on this forum who would accuse them of taking the competition too seriously - like some people do it with Rachel these days.
Enough already!

Im actually really warming to Tom recently. He comes across like a nice guy and i like his friendship with Austin (that is when ITT arent trying to make it into some big rivalry thing). I wouldnt mind if he won as i actually think he is the best dancer this year,
I dont think either males are smug, in fact none of the celebs are.
