You definitely never imagined it - there have even been pictures of him in the press with a cigarette in his hand. He often pops out with James to have a cig.

but his charm, perosnality and looks does not stop us loving him as we do, just because we now no he smokes doesnt change him as a person..

IIRC in terms of the effect of smoking on lung capacity, smoking doesn't ACTUALLY make that much difference. At least until there's a chronic smoking issue going on too causing coughing etc. However, what is significant and potentially very risky is the impact of exercising coupled with smoking and the resulting increased release of free radicals in the body.

i used to work on stage touring with the 'joseph and amzing tech. colour dreamcoat' and all the singers on there smoked, so me and a few others asked them why and aparantly it helps improve their voice.. i dont know why, but aparantly it does.
but i dont smoke so i would never no and im not a singer either but its just what i heard.

But there is no denying smokers smell of it. Kissing fantasies just won't be the same! (Although a fantasy is just that, and in my fantasy, Cutler will have minty fresh breath and be straight. )

I wonder if smoking is a factor when the pairings are decided. If Cherie and James smoke, and also Rachel and Vincent, I wonder if Christine smokes because Matthew does? It would be quite unpleasant to be in such constant close proximity to the breath of a smoker if you aren't one yourself. Mind you that could be said for someone who favours garlic too. I do often wonder if they're careful about what they eat!

So true! I once had to dance with a smoker at a salsa class and I couldn't even do my steps properly because I was just trying to shift away from his stinky breath.

However, I don't think they take smoking into consideration when deciding partnerships - more likely things like height and potential for publicity (re: Brendan in most cases!).
