Because it would flop.
Rhydian is not a singles artist. Simon's best selling act after Leona is Il Divo who have never released a single as far as I know. He's just following established procedure. |

I'm afraid I don't think he would succeed in the singles market. TID isn't contemporary enough.
Better to have the album anyway more to listen to.

So if he won last year he wouldnt habve got to number 1?
Besides its no big deal lots of people don't release physical singles anymore, in a year or 2 they won't exist. People just use Itunes, so any track of any album can make the charts if it sells enough downloads. |

But singles serve only to promote the album. Rhydian's singles would not get airplay and would chart poorly hence there was no point. "The Impossible Dream" has been chosen for promotional material. The focus is on his albums. In addition to Il Divo, other "popera" acts such as Angelis and Paul Potts just released albums with Syco as oppose to singles. This is the obvious approach to take with Rhydian, there is no reason to be displeased with anyone about the lack of single release. |

He was never ever going to release a single............Impossible Dream is just the lead track from the album. Rhydian is an album seller (and after all that is where the profit is to be made)..........and singers of his calibre don`t release singles.

No single - "So What" as P!nk would say.
![]() I'm thankful that Rhydian has had the opportunity to be able to record an album. I've now got my mitts on it and shall be listening to all the tracks in full with pleasure. Love the guy's voice and I hope there's more to come from him! See him on his 2009 tour to see the showman as well as hear the voice, afterall "Music has a new voice". ![]() Best of luck to Rhydian with the album - hope it's a success!

With the winners single, yes he would.

I don't think Rhydian's market are daft enough to buy both a single and an album.

And "The Impossible Dream" is being used for those publicity purposes, just that it isn't actually being sold as a single.
Id rather he was in it than not |

But if you download it on its own it will count as a single and get in the singles chart
Id rather he was in it than not It means nothing and most Rhydian fans seem to fully acknowledge that this is the appropriate decision for him. Really no need to be so displeased with the decision. It's not like the single would have done well anyway. |

Yes, but it is only available through the album. So it has not been released as a single and almost certainly won't get into the singles chart.

No single makes perfect sense to me. I think Rhydian is awesome but if anyone thinks that a single of his would do well in the charts they aren't paying attention.
He will use Impossible Dream to promote the album, sure, but it won't be released on it's own. The album, however, should sell very well because of it. |

A single would have been great and I honestly think 'Not a Dry Eye in the House' would have been great
and more commercial than The Impossible Dream. But hey not to be so hopefully Sony know what they are doing.

Whilst it would be nice if Rhydian released a successful single, I don't think that the market he is aimed at buys singles, so it would be a bit of a waste of resources that could be better spent on another lovely suit
![]() Personally speaking, the last single I bought was about 11 years ago when I got caught up in the moment and bought Candle in Wind by Elton John. I haven't bought one since. And I honestly couldn't tell you what any of the top ten singles are at the moment. I just don't find it relevant anymore. Most of the artists I like don't even release singles anymore, they tour and release albums. |

I wouldn't worry so much - Rhydian is selling so many albums at Woolworths he's in danger of saving the ailing high street retailer from imminent administration.
