Bug when setting a third recording
Anyone else spotted this one:
I had two recordings set. Tried to set a third, and as expected it came up with a dialog allowing a choice between cancelling the new reservation or cancelling the existing - but only one option for cancelling existing which had both the existing reservations in it. Saying yes to cancel existing cancelled BOTH of the other reservations. But I was then able to add one of them back in again. OK, not a major bug, but definitely not quite right. |

One other point on deleting recordings - it seems to take an age to actually do the delete - took about 30 seconds to delete Strictly come dancing last night (maybe the time to delete is dependant on size of recording?) - anyone else experiencing this?
If this is what's happening, it might be more sensible for it to consolidate free disk space as one of it's nocturnal activities. Last edited by awo1949 : 30-11-2008 at 14:57. Reason: Getting quote delimiter right |

Hi-Very impressed with the Humax so far....anyone had problems via RGB-SCART of "losing" some of the picture on the right hand side....most noticable when you call up the TV Guide & the Guide gives the date as "200" rather than "2008" ...
It's happening on RGB and CVBS on my set. |

Minor point I know, but for some reason I prefer watching SD via RGB-SCART rather than HDMI (Displays guide fully via HDMI). Tried switching the TV SCART output on the Humax HD-R Setup to "CVBS" rather than "RGB", & the picture quality suffers but is fine as far as display is concerned (displays all the guide)? I'm displaying the pic on a Panasonic Plasma 37 PX-70, tried adjusting aspect ratio on TV but makes no difference...not had this strange issue on the PVR-9200T.... Any help gratefully received....Cheers-Andy D

Only a minor bug, so hopefully easily fixed.....
When I have a program recording (Oceans on BBCHD tonight in my case); if I put the box onto standby while the program is being recorded the clock, understandibly, is displayed on the HDR front panel. However, once the recording has finished, the clock is still displayed despite me having the full power saving option set to turn it off (still the case 30 mins after recording completed and no further scheduled recordings today). If I subsequently power on the HDR it takes 30 seconds to start which suggests the box has gone into full standby mode. |

Hi I have been following this thread with the thought of getting one of these humax HDDR, but I see they have done it again, for a manufacturer of mostly satelite boxes and DTT boxes,to not be able to get the RGB scart to work properly, is poor, you would think from the problems of the foxsat HD they would have made more effort, not to mention the lipsync reset problem.

Yes - I am also missing the far right of the screen when viewing via RGB scart.
For my eyes HDMI for SD on the HD-R is too "soft" in any Resolution on my Panny plasma & the partial loss of guide/picture (albeit about 1 inch) on the RGB-SCART could have been picked up in the testing stage? With the machine's use being as a main Living Room unit (and more SD than HD content) I suppose I like the best of both worlds, but it seems like its been developed with more attention to the HDMI & the SCART has been left wanting somehow.... Maybe an upgrade via OTA might fix it someday?, but overall chuffed with it..... Andy D |

Andy D This basically compares the TV scaler against the Foxsat scaler and yes a good quality tv will beat it most times. Moral watch HD over HDMI and SD over scart. Same with the freeview hdmi upscalers scart connections are often superior. A really good quality scaler to beat a good tv costs a lot of money. For SD pictures especially Itv 1 (which is dire on freesat using a lower pixel count than ITV 1 on Freeview) are better on Freeview, which I know is not a lot of help if you can't get a decent freeview picture Last edited by grahamlthompson : 30-11-2008 at 21:09. Serious bug tonight recording BBC HD!
We were recording Wallender in HD tonight but the box kept going in and out of standby whilst we were watching the recording in chase play. The problems persisted until eventually we terminated the recording.
The box was cool and not overheating. Two lnbs attached. Even watching the program live failed to stop the on/off behaviour until the recording was stopped. |

There have been several cases for me where I have added recordings to the schedule and no clashes were reported. However, when recording, a box has flashed up saying there are clashes.
This, plus the HD recording bug just above suggest that some attention is needed pretty quickly or lots of us will be missing recordings or having our box switch itself on and off! |

Sorting the listings
Is it just me or does the option to sort the list of recordings not work - it gives the option to sort by date, channel or name but the order they're displayed in never changes.
Also, in a series folder the recordings are sorted so that the most recent is at the top. It would seem more logical to have the least recent at the top, as that's the one you're more likely to want to watch first (mind you Windows media centre does the same so maybe it's just me) |

Well, mines just arrived, I've not even plugged it in yet...but I've got a 'bug' report...
The packaging is inadequate. The mains plug is taped to the outside of the bag that wraps the box and is located so it sits on the back face of the unit when it's in the box. There is very little clearance between the plug and the inside of the box and no protection at all. Mine clearly took a hit at some point on the way to me and the back panel is dented in. Bent pin on the mains plug too. I'll see if it works OK - if yes, I'm not bothered about the dent as the case is pretty flimsy (like all these things are), if there's a problem.....no doubt it'll take ages to get a replacement. I do intend informing the supplier though. So, bigger box and more shock protection please Humax. |

I've found that if you're watching something that is still recording then as soon as the recording finishes, it jumps to live tv, rather than just carrying on with playing back what's been recorded.

Just finished watching a recording and returned to BBC1
If I press rewind to go to start of the time shift buffer it starts playing the recording with subtitles on! If I press the Sub button to switch them off it says "Not Available in Time Shift mode" My default setting BTW is subtitles off. Automan. |

The PVR9200 does the same. What you have to do is play the recording, and pause that, not watch the "live" show and pause it.

RGB signal goes blank on BBC HD after a few seconds
Haven't yet read the manual fully, but when I watch BBC HD using the RGB connector, the screen goes blank after a few seconds - I can still hear the sound.
Got Dual LNB and nothing connected to the HDMI connector - any ideas why it should work fine for a few seconds then go black? Thanks, Taliska |

Thanks, Taliska Hate to say it...but read the f...riendly manual!! ![]() Following on from my packaging 'bug' I'm happy to report the box works fine (thought it would) so unless the supplier insist on replacing it (not very likely), I'll keep this one I think. Would have much preferred a loose mains cable though - don't care for hard-wired ones in my AV cabinet, right pain working a 13A plug out the back. |

That's a Freesat 'feature', rather than a Humax fault. SD RGB output is disabled on all HD content to prevent copying....
![]() For crying out loud, prevent copying HD stream by all means, but knobbling the downconverted SD stream as well by stopping us watching it in the first place is insane. Well, I'm well and truly narked now. Pathetic. Taliska Yes, I will get round to reading the manual properly
