I don't think this bug has been mentioned elsewhere.

My box was 28 minutes into recording Wallander on BBC HD last night when I woke it up from "standby". I then changed channel to BBC HD (maybe it was already on that channel - I'm not sure). Not wanting to start watching part way through, I quickly tried to start viewing the recording from the beginning (via the Media list) but found that it would only play from the 28 minute point. I could start to play from later, in the recording but no earlier. The green bar at the bottom of the screen had a yellow mark at the 28 minute point, and although I could use the left arrow to "rewind" right back to zero minutes, once I had done so it would immediately jump to 28 minutes and start playing again.

The first 28 minutes of the recording was completely inaccessible and this remained the case even after the full recording had been competed.

I also got exactly the same problem later on with Heroes (also on BBC HD), which I changed channel to about 18 minutes into the recording time. This time the earliest point I could play was, you guessed it, 18 minutes. Again, it was a sheduled recording that had started on time.

At the time, I only had one LNB cable connected. I was unable to reproduce it just now, with 2 cables connected. My box is using the latest firmware.

So in summary it seems to be unwise to change to any channel that has a scheduled recording under way, though (probably) only if you just have one LNB connected.

Not a bug but an annoyance when deleting programs you have the please wait message and trashcan logo which takes longer the bigger the file you delete.My Humax 9200 never did this it simply deleted the program in the background as it should and you could continue to use the PVR.Seems like a backward step to have this annoying message.

Last night I noticed that the clock was diplaying on the right hand side of the display panel permanantly. I could switch channels and the clock still displayed. I was under the impression that it did not display the clock under normal viewing conditions.

This morning the box was back to normal ie not displaying the time?

Now I can replicate the clock displaying as when you hit live pause and then hit play the clock appears. (It would appear that it displays the time that you are currently viewing and not real time) but when I hit stop to go back to live viewing the clock disappears again which appears to be how the box should behave.

Does this mean that the behaviour I experienced last night is a wee bug?

I've done a quick tot up on my box and I'm pretty sure the %age use is accurate.

That was based on around 8G per hour for BBC HD, 6G for ITV HD, 2G for BBC SD, 1.5G for other 'major' SD and 1G for other SD.

The claim of 80 hours of HD recording would seem to be hard to achieve with BBC running at around 8G per hour - that's only 40 hours by my reckoning - think I'm going to need to upgrade the hard drive in my box, I'm already up to 72% ...

well ive just gone from non freesat mode to freesat, and its wiped my schedule list

Done it a few times before and its not wiped the list before, very odd.

Just tried an experiment to check BBC HD and your figure is pretty well spot on. Recorded 10Min of BBC HD and transferred to ext HDD. PC reports two ts files one at 95.2mB and one 1.23gB. Thats a requirement of 7.951gB for 1 hr

Should be - it was based on a recording on my PC - by the way the SD figures are more guestimates as they're based on Freeview recordings off the PC.

Oops should have read your OP more carefully I thought you had worked them out from the % left indicator. I don't have a PC card just the Foxsat-hdr and mine were made on that box.

Did you tune in something? I think that's what happened to me today

Since getting my box on Thursday last week, a couple of times now it has decided to do a freesat channel scan immediately on turning it on.

Is this normal, or a bug?

Only had the HDR for one day and find it much more capable than the Sky HD box, but I have just one problem. If I bring the box out of standby when a scheduled recording is taking place, I get no picture on my tv until the recording has finished. If the box is switched on when a recording starts, the picture stays and I can watch any channel I like. Is this a bug, or me not used to the box?

Normal.....check the changelog thread at the top to see the changes just since the 1st Dec....a few additions, deletions.

Try using the standby button on the remote to bring it fully on when it is recording (as you would normally do to bring it out of standby). It stays in a sort of part-standby mode when it does a scheduled recording in standby. It's outputs are disabled. The idea is that it won't "steal" the TV by SCART switching. You need to bring it fully out of standby.

I was trying to bring it out of standby with the remote, and the box was switching on with the channel name in the display but no picture on the tv.
This morning I have disabled auto-standby in the menu system, and now the box will switch on during a scheduled recording and also display the tv picture as it should.

If this is repeatable (not coming out of standby when recording if auto-standby is set), it's another bug.

Turned mine on last night during a recording to watch a previous recording without any problem, but others have also reported this it seems to box dependent - verry odd. Will try again to see it it's repeatable

Sounds like the 'switching to the channel that is being recorded' is something to do with the fact that the unit automatically records the channel you are watching, in order for you to be able to pause and rewind live TV. The manual states that you can only rewind to the point that you changed channel, which is understandable in normal circumstances, but if the channel is already being recorded by a schedule request, then the whole programme should be accessible, obviously.
This sounds like a pretty significant bug, but one which can be fixed with an update, I'm sure.

I have another bug, though, and it's a biggie. 9 times out of 10 I can't bring my box out of standby. I have to switch it off at the back and back on again several times before it will boot.
Also, I've noticed that the LCD backlight is on in the morning, even though I've put it into standby the night before. I didn't realise that the unit boots up at 03:00am, I have since discovered that on this forum, so I'm guessing that my backlight on is due to the system trying to boot at 03:00 and can't. When I try to switch it on, I see the same thing, just a backlight and no words or icons on the display.

Humax have suggested a factory reset which sounds like a 'we don't know' answer, so it looks like I might have to return it

No problem on mine, have done this many times.......sounds more like a HDMI handshaking issue to me.

When recording only 1 program this afternoon other channels were greyed out on guide and I was unable to access them. Have just switched over yesterday from sky+ box. Connected both lnb's in as straight swap. I'm a novice to this. Am i doing something wrong? Please be gentle with me.

Is it possible that one of the LNB leads has become disconnected, or is not making a decent connection. You might like to check them. A factory reset might also be in order after doing so.

Brilliant reply awo1949. Swapped cables round and still problem persisted. Carried out your second suggestion (Factory reset) and all is hunky dory now. Wonder what happened at first install then?

Just guessing, but I've a vague suspicion that one of your LNB connections might have been iffy. When you first installed, it would have configured for a single LNB connection without a loop-through (not sure if that's even possible). Fiddling with the cables might have resulted in a good connection, but the factory reset would have been required for the box to reconfigure itself for two LNB connections. You might like to keep an eye on things for a while as there may still be some potential iffyness in one of the connections.

I think I've found a bug that hasn't been mentioned before.

I was recording heroes on BBC HD and also watching it. I then paused the recording for a few minutes and then started watching it again. When the program finished at 10:45 it also stopped the live pause and dropped out to the live channel.

Has anyone else seen this?

It must have been mentioned on a thread as I am aware of this being reported but don't have a HDR yet!

Oh right must have missed that one then. I'll report it to humax in the hope they'll do something about it
