I don't usually have the subtitles activated, but I checked anyway, and they weren't.
Has anybody else had this? I've read through the 27 pages of this thread and not found any one else.

Yep, I've had that 'feature' since day one. I've got used to it now.

Someone tell me if this is old news, but I have made a search on this thread (it's too big to manually read through) and couldn't find anything.

I have noticed there is an issue with the Schedule. If I set a record for the whole series, it records the first episode, but the date in the Schedule doesn't change to the next episode.

For example, I recorded Dancing On Ice last Saturday (11th Jan) with it set to record the series of course, and it recorded it no problem. However, my Scedule still says "11/01 21:30-22:00 Dancing On Ice - The Skate Off" with no other entry for next weeks show.

It's a (very annoying) feature. I have them with dates from December. Email Humax to explain how this behaviour needs to be fixed. Speed of fix is usually directly proportional to number of emails moaning (in the nicest possible way) about an issue...

Re 'weather interference'.

I'm not sure what the weather was like when I recorded the programmes but it's strange that it's happened on quite a few recordings playback recorded on different days as I reported in an earlier post.

And surely if it were interference then the part where the interference occured would be lost on the disk? eg a ten second break in the programme playback where the sequence of messages/blanks was displayed. But the recording playback carries on exactly where it broke off with no apparant loss in data at all.

This is what made me think it was hard Disk trouble. Or to do with maybe the 'buffering' of data?

Very puzzling.

Just needed to know if it occurs for anyone else before I consider sending it back as faulty.

Cheers.

Next time it happens, go back in the buffer and see if it does it in the same place, if it happens again, its likely there was a problem before the signal got to the box.

If it plays fine 2nd time round then it could be the box thats faulty.

Thanks Flyer.

I had that idea myself then realised I could just simply play back the 'Swarm' recording again as I remember where the 'fault' occured. So I did this three times, rewinding and playing it through and never once did it 'stall'. So it is definitely on playback and not on recording.

So it seems I have a fault on the box.

Barry.

Looks like it, it wasnt when a recording was stopping or starting? Thats the only reasonable thing I can think of that would cause a glitch like that.

Hi Flyer,

Can't really check when it is recording can I? But one other very slight problem I have had is the box refuses to power on at all when I switch it on in the mornings. I switch everything off at the mains at night. Don't ask.

Anyway, It will remain 'dead cold' after first switching on power to the box at the mains. Only when I switch it 'off' at the back of the unit, then back on again will it show signs of life. Nothing will work until I get the brief LCD panel flashing on then the red standby light emerges on. Then it is OK. Just wondering if perhaps it is a PSU fault and when playing back, it is 'gliching' enough to cause this playback problem?

I have informed my supplier and he suggests I do a factory reset first then if that doesn't cure it, to contact Humax direct for repair/replacement. I have done the reset and will just have to monitor it for a week to see if it reappears again.

Barry.

Thanks BC. Nice to see you are still checking this forum out. I would appreciate it if you could take a look at the other issue I still have with this box here.

[edit] I have sent an email on both issues to the correct address now.

Mine also gets turned off at the mains at night sometimes and next morning when powered again it shows a red led and backlit display, press power up on the remote and nothing changes, try once more and the display blanks and just the red led shows, once more press power and it boots.
I dont think its broken, just confused by a mains removal.

Yes you can, just click on the schedule when you are playing the program and see the glitch.

Why turn it off at the mains when it uses less than a watt in standby?

In my case...Lack of sockets!

The only spare way behind the tv I have atm is on a power strip thats turned off at night. I prefer to turn off the other items on the power strip as they use considerably more than 1 watt on standby.

I had 3 power cuts last night and one was during 2 recordings. It didn't continue recording when power was restored so I could only watch the recordings up to the power cut.

Is this normal? My TiVo managed to continue recording after the power cut.

Yep! But got it sorted.

Responses to my emails have come from freesat@humaxdigital.com so first mistake was to use .co.uk rather than .com

I was then 'advised' that it was freesat@humax-digital.co.uk

But, having not noticed the .co.uk rather than the .com, I thought the change was just the hyphen. Hence the (incorrect) freesat@humax-digital.com

Apologies for the confusion (and I'll get me coat...).

I know this has been commented on a few times and it happened to me last night but not sure if the next problem has....

When I restarted watching the paused recording I "rewound" the picture a few minutes from where I had paused it. When it reached the pause place I suffered picture breakup/pixelation for a split second. I managed to recreate this probelem every time I did the same thing. When it reached the pause point it "faultered". It was still recording whilst I was doing all this and then it finally dropped out completey what I was watching when the original recording end time was reached, as pointed out above.

So it's 2 big problems associated with "chasing playback" that need a fix imho.

Don't know if this has been reported previously but if you undertake a 'Find', and the programme at the top of the found list is currently being broadcast, then when you arrow right onto it the highlight immediately jumps back to the left onto the found panel unless you arrow down very quickly onto another instance of the programme. A real pain if you're trying to set a recording for later in the week.

Hi Flyer.

What I meant was as the fault only occurs occasionally and not on all recordings and only on playback. I only watch recordings later as to do the checking while recording defeats the object of recording to watch later I never watch and record at the same time. Just set it to record a programme to watch up to even a few days later. To do your tests I would be having to record and watch 'live' (which I rarely do to be honest) in the hope the glitch might occur. I just use this box to record BBC HD only, for later viewing. Any 'live' watching or SD stuff I use the Skybox or one of my other many satboxes. It's no big issue though, it well may have cleared now after the factory reset. I will just keep a check on playbacks from now.
As for switching off at night, as just mentioned, I have MANY satboxes and DVD stuff in my 'AV' corner and all are fed via a convenient master 'power switch' which gets switched off almost every night, thus saving me a fortune in power costs!
It is too complex to have just the Foxsat on all the time, hence why I said 'don't ask'

Barry.

Neither the live football (ITV HD) nor the later highlights (ITV London) recorded for me last night, although other programmes did, and I watched most of the football live without any issues.
