I shut down the box and rebooted it again and the media menu came back filled once more with the original film still showing.
When trying to delete again the same thing happened!!!
Unfortunately I had to leave it at that as I was leaving on business for a couple of days (and the other half does not want to lose what she has recorded!) I will have a closer look when returning on Tuesday, but has anyone had the same problem occurring?”

I've had a similar thing on two occasions where all recordings had gone apart from one or two empty folders. Had to reboot the HDR to get back all the other recording.

However what I have discovered today is if you have an empty folder they also appear in the RADIO section. I'm wondering if I got dumped into the radio view when I tried to delete the program which would explain why all the other programs disappeared. Next time it happens I'll check to see if I'm still in Video mode or it has switched to Radio.

Certainly a bug is empty video folders also shows up in the Radio section.

Not sure that this is really a bug. Surely it's possible for a Folder to contain both TV and Radio programmes. If so it's entirely consistant that any folder should appear In both. Selecting Radio or Video should display the appropriate list

If the folder did not appear in both panes how would you ever add a radio or TV programme to it ?

As to automatic empty folder deletion how would the Foxsat know that you were not intending to copy a new recording to it.

Had the box working since weekend and experience mainly great but had a couple of recording mishaps.

In both instances (Enigma BB1 Sunday, Brothers and Sisters More4 Monday/Tuesday morning) PVR woke itself up but didn't start recording. Recording started instantly when box taken fully out of standby to see what was going on. Other recordings have worked fine and no other recordings taking place at that time.

Thought it could be connected to record settings or series link given other posts but the series link doesn't explain Enigma and don't understand why recording does start when box switched on.

The info connected to the recording shows the scheduled time of the recording and also before it 'billed time' which shows as starting at the time the box was switched on.

My HDD/Radio area has been empty untill yesterday when I recorded and listened to a radio program recorded the day before. After I had deleted the radio programme, two empty folders from the HDD/TV area copied themselves over. My Music and Photo area remain unused.

Presumably, then, the Humax software only copies the folders when it makes a change to the area rather than simply when you look at it.

Which could be considered a bug in itself albeit a very trivial one.

I've never recorded a radio program yet empty folders appear in that section.

A folder is created when a series link program is recorded (video in my case). Once I have watched the program and delete it the empty folder remains in the video section but now also appears in the radio section.

It's bad enough that the empty folders clutter up the UI in one section without having to see them in another.

If a folder is created for a video program then that information should be attached to the folder so that once it is empty it will still only be displayed in the video section.

Set the box to record the football on ITV HD tonight, went to 103 to watch it live and found the 'ITV HD not available' screen showing without any apparent means of removing it and watching the SD broadcast. I finally decided to stop the recording and that allowed me to get to the SD broadcast.

Was just watching a recording and the HDR rebooted at just about 9pm

Was set to record Hustle on BBC HD at that time, so I'm guessing it was related to that.

After reboot, Hustle wasn't recording - I started that and carried on playing the recording (a Poirot from ITV3) - played back fine through the same point.

Guess it could just be a flaky box, but seemed rather a big co-incidence that it happened just as a recording was due to start.

I used to have a similar issue if I left the PVR on Cbeebies when it went off air (though in that case it needed to be switched to a channel on air before it started recording). I now make sure it's not left on Cbeebies (or any other channel that goes off air) and haven't had a recurrence of that bug.

Thanks dat for feedback. By 'left the PVR on' do you mean that was the last channel you'd been watching when you put the box into standby?

If so could see how this could affect me given I may have BBC 3 or similar on... but not sure it explains my failures as I don't think any channel I might have watched would have gone off air between me last using the box and the recordings missed.

Not had any failures since Monday and hopefully this will remain the case.

From BBC News press Menu, right arrow into Settings, arrow down to Recording, arrow right into Recording, arrow down to Recording End Time, press OK, arrow down to 5 min late, press OK, arrow left: reboot!

I've also had 'ghost' failed recordings appear again (0 minutes long from programmes previously recorded and deleted).

I understand it'll be May before we get a firmware update. Seems a long time to wait with the current crop of bugs and annoying 'features', many of which were identified a long time ago now.

How/where did you learn of this?

With the size of this thread now, apologies if I've missed this issue.
My Humax has been working very well up to a couple of days ago.
It's connected to my Sony 32" HD TV via the HDMI and also via scart.
No problems - using the Sony handset to select the HDMI input when required.
Now, when I select the HDMI input I just get a green screen. HD continues to work ok, I assume via the scart.
I am not aware of having made any changes.
Any ideas anyone?
Regards - Tim

Sort of begs the question: Who is Rob H and is he a reliable 'witness'?

That seems a very long time to wait for updates. How long was the wait for the initial fixes for the non PVR version of the box?

If we really have to wait ~6 months I hope they will have ironed out the vast majority of the points that have been raised. It doesn't really seem a very sensible approach, though, since it is well known that bug fixes inevitably lead to further bugs, so an interim release would allow them to gain some 'intelligence' on possible introduced bugs.

Thanks for that...

...but actually a tad disappointing! I really don't see how it takes that long to iron out some well reported and defined bugs/features (delete as appropriate) unless, that is, they intend to release a feature upgrade at the same time(?) and that usually ends in tears

Can't vouch for the accuracy of it, just reporting what I've seen. If true, it's far too long to have to wait for fixes to bugs/annoying features that have been reported to Humax for a long time now.

I totally agree with the previous 2 posts, 6 months is way too long to wait for things to be fixed. But if there is no competition and the things are selling like hot cakes why bother fixing bugs. It's only folk like us on forums who are moaning and we don't matter. If we did then Bob-cat or someone else from Humax might pop up and give us some useful information. Like when certain well reported bugs are going to be sorted or when the supply situation might improve. But all I hear is silence.

I only noticed it when I left the box on Cbeebies (not switched to standby) - so could well be a different issue.

Bug similar to my report in #733

The box was left in standby with recordings set. It started to record BBC2 and ITV HD. I took it out of standby and went to ITV to watch HD. I got ITV SD. Pressed the red button and got the usual 'selecting ITV HD' but it didn't fill the whole screen and ITV HD didn't appear. I was left with the 'selecting' screen until I pressed 'Exit'. The only way to watch the HD broadcast was to stop the recording and then press the red button.

BBC2 and ITV HD are on different transponders. As ITV SD is on a third transponder, you should not have been able to watch it. Are you sure it was really recording ITV HD? If the HDR had failed to record ITV HD, but was recording ITV SD instead, you would have got what you described. The two tuners would have been used in recording BBC2 and ITV SD so it would not have been able to tune in ITV HD.

This is correct, in fact if you are recording 2, one of them ITV HD then attempting to tune 103 will take you straight to the HD simulcast (The stb is clever enough to know you can't get ITV1 SD)
