Most of the recordings I make on BBC HD don't play back in Dolby Digital (DD).

The interval between programmes does play back in DD, but switches back to stereo when the programme starts....

Anyone else had this experience?

Most of BBC HD's output is only AC 2.0 (Stereo) not a great deal is in DD 5.1

I'd certainly say that if this is the "best" that we can come up with in a Bugs thread then Humax have done a sterling job and ..... want mine to arrive like now !
They have certainly done a sterling job with it, a proper mint for them at £292 a shot!

Have you tried a brief recording of the BBC HD Preview reel ? It's in DD 5.1

Try playing that back.

In my opinion, the best program on BBC HD!

Don't have the box in front of me - so may have missed out a button or two,bu t basically there are 2 cases for deleting:

1) If you've just been watching something and have just hit STOP

you click OK to select the item you've been watching
cursor down 2 to the delete option
click OK - get a do you really want to delete dialog
cursor left to Yes (defaults to no)
click OK
wait a few seconds while it actually deletes it

So that's 'only' 6 by my count

Yep i was trying to remember from memory (at work) only 6 presses. Its when you use the OPT+ option there are more button presses.
I got my twin cable connected today and once reset it downloaded the new software.Had a quick try of 2 recordings and playback and was ok.

Perhaps Humax made the mistake of even offering the none FreeSat mode on this product.

Or trying to support a single LNB feed or offering the LNB output.

All features, issues for the software writers and that most Joe Public users will never need.

I only have a single LNB feed and it's not something I can do anything about as I rely on a communal dish in my apartment block.

So I am extremely grateful to Humax for supporting this mode of operation and I'll be getting the Foxsat-HDR in due course. I would guess there are lots like me out here in Joe Public land.

Good point as long as they make clear the limitations before you purchase so you know how well it will work.

It doesn't matter how much you shovel the praise on, Humax aren't going to be giving you a free one guys!

But, just in case, I'd like to add my sincere appreciation - it's very healthy to see a company this responsive and honest.

Been recording Hollyoaks Later all this week. I've watched the last episode I have recorded this afternoon and deleted it and of course the folder is still there however if I check the Radio recordings folder it all shows an empty Hollyoaks Later folder?

Is there an official way of reporting these issues to Humax for resolution or are we hoping that they're reading this thread and taking note of the problems? Or are people ringing them up?

Their email address is on page GB79 of the user guide...

freesat@humax-digtal.co.uk

I have had responses to both of my queries...

Yesterday morning I switched over to non-freesat mode to watch Bloomberg for a few minutes. I turned the box off and headed off to work.

When I returned, I switched the box back to freesat mode and checked that all my scheduled reservations were in place. They were! I left the box switched on and when I later returned to it I found that the first two scheduled recordings had been completely missed. They were still there in the schedule but the time had passed.

I can only conclude that if you switch from freesat mode to non-freesat mode and then back again, you must have been back into standby and rebooted in freesat mode for the scheduling to continue. That's what worked for me. I turned it off and sure enough the next recording worked as expected.

I looked in the schedule later and the two that had been missed were now gone but new reservations had been set for the next programme in the series.

I've not had chance to replicate this so it could be user error!

With single lnb I`d look at the Fortec Passion.

Well technically that is right. It is just that 4 of the channels are silent. You can see that on the display on my amp. It recognises that the input is in DD but only lights up 2 of its 6 channel indicator displays.

I had my first recording failure tonight when the box completely missed Dead Set (which was set to series record and did so successfully a couple of nights ago). No clashes, the box was in standby, it just missed it somehow.

Mind you, I'm still on the 1.00.01 software of course so am not bothered by this as Bob_Cat has already pointed out that there are bugs in this area in the factory software.

(Luckily, I noticed just in time to add the late repeat on E4+1 which the box recorded okay -- I was watching carefully!)

I take it then, that the software cannot be updated via USB?

My box was on again at 03:00am so no icons again

It recorded Space 1999 with Sign Language (the fault of the ITV4 Series Link I suppose).

While going to delete it I note the option says

Delete a file
Perhaps Delete Recording or just Delete many be more accurate.

There is no choice of which file you want to delete....

For the first time ever I have selected the other tabs in Media and I also have just the empty video folders showing up in the "Radio" tab.

e.g.

Andromeda(0)
Clone(0)
Inside Out(0)
Space 1999(0)

Doesn't seem to be any firmware on their website, at least that I can find. I'm sure there will be plenty of people in apartments with just one feed who will buy this box and be stuck with a buggy first release...

I do have a second feed in the bedroom, just need to get a 30ft cable
