The RUG lady rang me back and said that although I hadn't won tickets, because I was a genuine fan with whom they had had dealings in the past, they had RESERVED ME two tickets for opening night anyway.....!

Which should be great news, except....

...I can't go! It's my Masters Graduation ceremony and my Mum is SO up for it and SO proud and we've already got our tickets and everything!

But the weird thing is that I already knew about this clash of dates, so I'm almost 100% sure that I didn't even ENTER the competition in the first place, because I knew there was a danger this might happen!

I think the lady put the tickets aside for me because of the whole Curlgate thing, and also because I sent them another email saying how great all the fans' reviews had been!

Anyway, we discussed it, and it turns out that they could only hold the tickets at the Box Office until 5.30pm, and the ceremony is at 3.00pm, 200 miles away, so there was no way we could resolve the situation....

I even asked if I could swap them for a different night, and then she said she couldn't, cos opening night is 'invitation only!'

I could have been there with all the Joes and ALW and BK and everyone.....

....but I had no choice but to turn them down!

I love Lee but I love my Mum more, and she would have been devastated if I had prevented her from seeing me graduate!

I'd better get my reward for this in heaven!”

oh BG what an a*se! How amazing though that they'd do that!

I have considered that but I know what her answer would be. She loves Lee but she loves me more. I'm her Best Girl. In fact, I'm her only girl.

I don't think I'll be telling her about this cos she would probably feel all guilty for wanting to go to my graduation.

I did ask the RUG lady to pass on my apologies because it must look so ungrateful to turn down such an opportunity. She said I should email her and she would pass my message on to Lee.

I suppose that's the best I can do! I'm still chuffed that they did that, but it's such a shame...

Anyway, I told her that eveyone's been really delighted with the show so far, and she said she'd seen it twice and he was amazing!

I'd like to think this is something Lee would do for his Mum too. It's the only consolation!

I would have done that, except I thought it looked really cheeky and also they will only be at the Box Office until 5.30pm, so it gets really complicated with the postal strike and all...

I am really upset yet still chuffed at their kindness! x

Oh I'm gonna cry now! Stop it!
Ah well maybe when Lee gets your email he'll come with his TV crew to your graduation... or something

AND it is not something to be sneezed at to be afforded the opportunity to send an email to Lee!

You can tell him about the LOVELEES not Loppies!

BG - I think you have handled this really well. Of course you have to go to your graduation ceremony.

So glad that Lee will get to hear of your sacrifice! Maybe a signed pic will be on it's way!

And now decided never mind dial up internet at my parents, by the time they get their phonebill I´m gone

I clearly have no morals, as I would have said yes without hesitating! But then I know my mum only came to my masters graduation because she felt she had to

Awwww, sweetie, I was just teasing you to cheer you up. I had the same thing happen to me, I won Elton John tickets and back stage passes with Radio 2 at Leeds Castle and I couldn't go because I promised my son we would go to visit his grandparents!

I'm sooo sorry, but it's gonna be the proudest day of your mum's life and you're a good daughter to give her that!

Lee's not going anywhere either, so you'll see him and have fun with your mum in 9 sleeps!
