Can I just ask a random question here......if we decided to go onto a hosted site in the future, what do people think would be a reasonable donation per person per annum.......
I honestly don't know. I've never paid for membership of an online group before, so I don't know what a reasonable rate is. I'd guess around £5. I suppose it depends on how much the host would be charging and how many members there are.

Thats kind of why i said £20 i don't think the payment should be compulsory and most of us really wouldn't notice £5 a quarter

fair enough *thumb up*

dont know about anyone else, but I'd be happy for the likes of DB, GG and Kelly and any of our other students to pay a lower fee as well - not all of us are earning decent money and they contribute as much to the site as the rest of us - would hate to lose them for a couple of quid a year
Good idea TruLee *thumbup* At the moment I have some 'spare' money but I know when I go off to uni I'll have a lot less so would kindof need to pay a lower price *hugs*

awww bless you. This year might be a struggle (still am not quite sure how I'm paying my fees a week on Monday ) but hopefully from then on I will be on a decent wage and more than willing to contribute more

Just wondering how it would work because not everyone will want to/be able to chip in (as in some people can't afford it and some people don't post very much).
That's what I was thinking.

It would be voluntary donation anyway, as opposed to set subscription because I think that takes us into avenues we dont want to go in.

thats fair enough - hadn't thought of it that way - the other sites I contribute to are 'official' sites one way or another - didnt think about the legal considerations - sorry Sue

That's what I was thinking.
All issues that need to be thrashed through so we could move forward........I think there will be specific awareness of those not in receipt of income or uni students etc....but it may end up that some areas are member only as well.

I'm going to say goodnight. Very tired tonight and am not contributing. I would echo the comments above - happy to contribute to the cost of a reliable hosted site and sums quoted seem reasonable to me.

I'll see you all tomorrow *waves & hugs*

Well I guess the way round that is to have a welcome e mail that makes it clear that the site costs money to run etc....and advising that contributions are welcome. If however I win the lottery tomorrow I am quite happy to foot the bill

hello,
I'm not really here, but would be up for about £5 per quarter, i think i could manage that!

going to lurk for a bit while i feed my tummy, and clean up this bombsite - G had a friend to play this afternoon, every toy she owns is on the floor - cos the toy box was being used as a house
