What to serve with chilli
I serve all my meals with at least one kind of veg or a salad of some type but when it comes to chilli I always get stumped for what to serve it with?? I end up either doing garlic bread or coleslaw.
Any healthier alternatives? I cannot think of anything else that "goes with" chilli?

Salad leaves, cucumber and tomato
No dressing. Cleanes and cools the palate. Taco trays are cool too |

Plain boiled brown rice - if the chilli is hot it helps to cool it down a little and there's no need for other flavours to compete with the chilli.

I tend to just have rice with mine. I might have a green salad too if i had some in.
Or perhaps a big bowl of chilli with garlic bread ? |

Roasted yellow/green/red peppers go really well with chilli, you could also stuff the peppers with the rice and chilli or just the chilli and have the rice on the side. A fresh green side salad would also go well.

Corn Bread!
A friend from the Southern US was visiting and was amazed at the crap... I mean variety of accompaniments she saw listed. Chips, Jacket, Mash, Rice, Salad etc. She's always just had Chilli with Corn Bread on the side and maybe a dollop of sour cream. |

They've just started doing wholemeal Greek pitta here (not like the arabic one but the one that's a bit more like naan) and I might try serving it with those instead of rice next time. Maybe grill them with a bit of garlic oil or something. I'm most surprised by the people who seem to have two types of carb with it - I always find chilli really filling with the kidney beans etc.. that if I had bread and rice or rice and chips or whatever I think I'd explode! |

As a Texan, I have to say cornbread (although, I think that brown rice goes well too).
Cornbread or my favourite, Mexican Cornbread |

I've never seen cornbread in a Greek supermarket but that does sound nice
I've never seen cornbread in the supermarket, although i've never specifically looked for it. I think it's one of those easy recipies to knock up yourself. Take a look at those recipies above or checkout this one http://uktv.co.uk/food/recipe/aid/608599 |

Cornbread is delicious served with chilli if it's the savoury cheesy version. I was served cornbread with my chilli on holiday in USA and it was like cake - too sweet for my taste.
I have tried making my own since, leaving out the sugar and using quick cook polenta - turned out delicious. |
