Christmas gift with shelf life of 2 weeks+
I want to make something sweet/chocolate based as a christmas present for a friend, something like truffles, florentines etc. However, I need to give them to her 2 weeks before christmas, and want to include them in a hamper of other stuff for her to open on Christmas day, and I'm worried about how long those things will keep.
So, does anyone know what sweetie/chocolate based "things" I can make as a gift, that will last more than 2 weeks? (2 weeks till christmas plus give her a few days to eat them!). I don't want to tell her to keep her christmas present in the fridge, but I could tell her to keep it in the utility room until christmas day, so it'll be slightly cooler than in the main house. Any suggestion folks? |

I think chocolate rum truffles would last. You could tell her it's perishable and to keep them in the fridge. I think the alcohol in them would act as a tasty preservative, and there's a good recipe in the Hamlyn All Colour Cookbook.
