I upgraded my pay as you go handset with CPW on the 9th of this month. After buying it they told me it would take upto 2 weeks to get my loyalty discount which was a £15 top up credit.

I wasn't happy with this and emailed them to enquire about it and amazingly they have actually given me the credit this evening, my two weeks were up this Friday.

The problem is I was eagerly awaiting the £15 as I thought I could use it in place of topping up but I haven't had the £5 taken off me for the o2 Friends Bolt On I have and I didn't get my usual 300 free texts / 1MB alllowance.

Am i right to assume then that I can't use this credit towards that and will have to top up anyway ? Or do I need to do something else ?

I haven't topped up since September so is it possible that I need to reactivate the o2 Friends Bolt On ?

Otherwise I can't figure out why o2 adding £15 credit to my balance hasn't triggered my bolt on and given me my texts / wap allowance.

Thanks

I don't know about the bolt-on, but the free allowance is for topping up not anything credited to the account.
I'd guess the bolt-on has been cancelled.

no you will have to top up to get the free allowances. and i,m pretty sure that bolt ons have to be renewed every month so call them and ask them to put it on for you

Cheers for the replies. I went upto the local o2 shope today and put my questions to an Assistant. He took my number put it on the computer and it brought up some basic info on my " account " if I can call it that.

It is the case the the loyalty discount does not contribute towards topping up. However for some reason according to the computer my anniversary date is 08/11/08.

As I said to the guy I don't understand how this can be as I have not topped up my phone since September, I specifically let it expire as I was going to buy a new PAYG phone/sim card. Normally the anniversary date will just start over from the date I then top up again but it looks like their systems are showing me as still having a regular anniversary date, which is odd.

So it is because of that [that] even if I did top up I still wouldnt get my 300 texts / 1mb allowance and this is also why my o2 Numbers bolt on has not been taken off yet. So after all that I have to wait again until the 8th of December to top up and get my texts and bolt on and buy the new bolt on I want.

Thanks again for the replies : )

[in my initial post I said o2 friends, I made a mistake it is o2 numbers I have]

You can still top-up before the 8th and that will reset your anniversary date. Incidentally, you can look at all your account information using the My O2 section of the O2 website.

Sorry for the delayed reply. Thanks for that information prking. I've registered my current number and have had a look at my account information.

I thought I could top up before the 8th as that is what I usually do. Let it expire then it resets and starts again once I top up but the guy in the shop said I had to wait until the 8th December which I knew had to be wrong, even if the computer did show my anniversary date as the 8th I knew I had let it expire.

Perhaps it just displayed the 8th as the last date I topped up and for whatever reason kept that on record.

Brilliant being able to see everything about my balance, bolt ons and so forth though

In fact I have another question.

My sim card is not a 3G one. I can have it changed in the shop in town I was told, but forgot to ask how ot would work and the cost, does anyone happen to know that information at all ?

He did mention I would need to back up my data, which is basically just the contacts info which I'm sure my k850i will allow me to backup to the memory card.

Is it just a case of them transferring my number to a 3G sim and activating it ?

My brother did this, he went into an O2 store. They gavehim a new SIM and told him it would take up to 24 hours. In fact, within a couple of hours the old SIM went dead and he replaced it with the 3G. This was on a Sunday, so I would imagine it would take the same amount of time during the week.
He didn't have to pay for the SIM.
