Looks like it was all just wishful thinking now anyway... http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/strictly...-are-safe.html

I seem to remember X-factor ratings started soaring when Louis had his first row with Thingy Osbourne (sorry, can't remember her name) - and that's when the Strictly judges started getting in on the same act.”

No ,I dont expect them to go way the other way either. They can make the funny jokes as long as its wrapped in decent constructive critisim. The celebs should be upset coz they are not not performing to their best, not because they have been belittled or someone has been down right rude. Its just not needed, and its not funny

"Len, who I used to like, has lost the plot. He's grumpy and behaves more and more like a dirty old man every week. It's not attractive. His comments seem more and more out of place on a so-called family show."

I did feel Len's "knicker" remark was ill judged, and he has been quite grumpy in recent times, but I cannot honestly see Len as a dirty old man.

Never doubted it for a moment!

My point is venomous is a strong word and I wouldn't use it to describe Len's comments. I'm not saying all his comments are okay and I totally agree he's not his usual Mr Nice Guy this series. I just wondered what I had missed that made you use 'venomous' and I don't think I missed anything by the sound of your reply.

Re the anger, Len showed more anger at Craig on Saturday than at any time about JS. All the judges were unhappy at JS still being in the competition and after he left Len's comments were the mildest by far and I'd go as far as saying he sat on the fence, unlike Craig and Arlene.

I guess we all see things differently.

Yes, it was a bit ill judged, and no Len isn't a dirty old man - had he been sitting on a stage at a 'proper' dance competition, no one would have taken a blind bit of notice as everyone sort of gets used to these daft sort of jokes and ignores them, as they understand nothing is meant by them. Unfortunately Len seemed to forget he was on tv, watched by people who wouldn't understand his (sometimes crazy) sense of humour!

Ridiculous!

Craig and Arlene are SCD!

It's a dance competition, not a polularity contest, and they are professionals who are only giving their opionions

As for grumpy old Len, I love him, however methinks the weekly travelling to and from LA is taking it's toll

This year has been ruined because people have lost sight of that.”

I know it's completely lame to quote my own post, but it was earlier this morning and kind of relates to what I want to say now - sorry.

I just don't understand why people are so up in arms about the judges now. They weren't any more opinionated on SCD or in interviews about JS than they were about Bill, or Peter Schmeichel (sp?), or Kate or Fiona or any of the other many weaker dancers that have gone further than expected. Is it just because John is more endearing than the others?

To me, when the judges do these interviews they are doing it to advertise the show and to play devil's advocate. It gets people talking. It's part of the show. I don't doubt the producers are in on it. And, more importantly, it works!

I don't want to lose the judges (which we apparently won't), and I don't want it going all nicey nicey like the god awful DWTS. I like getting all frustrated when I see a weaker dancer progressing - it's a bit more fun than worrying if I'll still have a job next month

On a different note and in response to an earlier post - Craig, Arlene and Bruno, having spent many years in the dance industry, are more than qualified to talk about the "technique" of dancing - lines, posture etc.

Quote from DS story

A BBC spokesperson said: "The story about the Strictly Come Dancing judges in today's Daily Mail is a load of rubbish. The judges' role in the show is to critique the contestants' dancing and that is exactly what they have done in this series and every series before it."

Yes, critique the DANCING don't assassinate the contestant's personalities! The BBC really have no idea have they?

Arlene is Queen bitch and a right pain in the behind. I sometimes have time to go and make a cup of tea waiting for her to splutter out her rehearsed alliterative rubbish. She is only in it for Arlene and she thinks she is a bigger celeb than the celebs.

Craig talks some sense sometimes but ruins it by being downright nasty at other times. Like Arlene he needs to learn when to keep his mouth shut and not to be such a total bitch on and off the show.”

A bit like the royal family, they do public denials too.
Simon Cowell publicly denied that Kate Thornton was being axed from X-factor.

I don't think Craig and Arlene will be sacked. They might resign though.

and judging by some of his comments immediately afterwards (the little "disagreement" with Craig) he seemed to accept that it was an off-the-cuff comment which was perhaps ill-judged.

I wouldn't have described it as "an almighty denial". Rather low-key, especially as there is no actual person quoted, and little coverage (if any?) on the BBC news site or the SCD site (well, I can't see anything).

As usual, the BBC are totally out of step with the general public. Bruno is the only judge (rather amazingly) who has kept his comments within the show and on the whole been reasonable but Arlene, Craig and Len (what on EARTH is wrong with Len, jetlag?) need to be replaced in my opinion. I doubt if any of them will get off the gravy train and resign as I doubt if they have ever earned as much money as they now receive in their whole careers as "dancers"!!!!!!! Perhaps Len should decide which show he wants to be on (obviously the American show pays more) as he is totally different on Dancing with the Stars!! No screaming fights, bitchy off colour comments are allowed on American TV. There you really would get fired.

Are the comments on forums representative of the 10million or so viewers "out there"?

The way Len spoke to Craig was completely out of order. He was shouting, and I wouldn't have been surprised if he had either stomped off in a rage, or hit him. I don't think him losing his temper is entertaining. I'd rather be worrying whether I have a job next month

The way the judges talked to/over each other. I'm all for drama to a certain extent, but when the professional 'staff' are unable to let each other speak it gets on my wick. It's not about the 'bullying' it's about the process of the show - one of those things, like crappy camera work, that they could rise above and do without. I'm quite aware that the BBC will probably ignore my complaint, but happily I have the right to complain a

It is clear that the judges have been talking over each other and arguing a lot more this year. I personally find it rude, though nor more rude than the pig ignorant pantomime booing of the judges by the studio audience which often interrupts or drowns out what they are saying. If they can't keep quiet then they should be thrown out of the studio.

However I rather suspect that the studio audience are encouraged into their poor behaviour by the production team and I'd quite imagine the judges aren't being discouraged either. I can imagine that the producers think that is what the GBP want to see but they couldn't be more wrong in my case.

I don't have a problem with the four judges we have, but lets have them all allowed to express their own opinion without interruption. Lets move them a little further apart so they can move their arms about without clobbering each other, and lets not have them commenting on the opinion of the other judges. I am perfectly capable of working out if the judges disagree with other without them telling me.

Come on, lets get real....

The Judges consider themselves the stars of the show and the celebs are secondary.

Look back at season 1 and fast forward. They have grown increasingly outspoken and revel in their "stardom".

Len thinks he is the cats whiskers and Craig is totally in love with himself.

Sack the lot and get in fresh blood.

I would love to see real proffesional judges and not washed up over the hill choreographers.

As a footnote, Arlene was a sad pathetic old crone in her "disco group dance". She looked like she had not got a clue. Mind you, it gave me a laugh looking at her.

Quite eye-opening to see the way some of those who lambast the judges for their personal comments about others then qualify that criticism with equally personal and offensive comments about the four of them!

This argument (together with the one about 'Brucie should leave'/'Tess should leave'/one or other of the pros etc etc etc) comes up every year.

It's a good thing this forum isn't representative of the public at large (we're a very small microcosm of the GPB). Yet, there is a rather worrying tendancy toward an over-inflated opinion of our own worth on here!: And I'm as guilty as anyone else!

To be honest, I don't find anyone of them really "assassinate" personalities. If/when they tell the likes of Fiona or Kate that they are dreadful etc etc etc, they mean their dancing, they are not suggesting they think they are dreadful people.

Very true - perhaps some need to take note of that
