IPOD Touch 2.2 Firmware problem
spendleb

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Upgraded my Touch firmware last night to v2.2, had to do this at home due to firewall issues at work but basically all my music is on ITunes at work.

Came in this morning and plugged my ITouch in and firstly all my music was deleted by the upgrade, OK fair enough I can sync my music again, not a massive issue BUT I noticed that ITunes now thinks my Touch is an IPhone!

Worse still my capacity has gone bonkers and the 'Other' category now has 17GB used! This means I only have 8GB left for my music which doesn't make sense!

Only option appears to be to restore completely to the factory settings and lose everything?

Can anyone make any suggestions before I resort to this?

Cheers, presume it's just a case of selecting the 'restore' button in ITunes which should take it back to the original v1 firmware with nothing installed and then I should be able to then select the Update Firmware option again?

when you restore in iTunes it will restore to the most recent firmware so 2.2 will be restored to the device

Doesn't that mean I will end up with the same problem or do you mean it would be a clean install of the 2.2 firmware?

That exact thing happend to my Touch! I had to take it to my nearest Apple Istore and they reflashed it for free and it was fine after that. Still dont know why to this day that happened

Yeah the restore worked for me and was easier than I expected, pain sticking the music back on but all now seems to be OK
