Hi all
I've managed to rig up my panny DMR-EX768EB-K to an external vcr with a scart lead red white and yellow jack plugs rf lead. Only thing is so far the only way I have done a successful recording is by having to leave the telly on. Any way round this?
Need the telly to monitor start of recording but i'd like to turn it off after that. cheers

How exactly is everything connected?

I assume you have one SCART on the Panasonic connected to the TV and the other connected to the VCR?

Are you 100% certain you have selected the correct SCART input for the VCR? For example if the TV is on AV1 and the VCR on AV2 have you definitely selected AV2?

Do you have a connection between VCR and TV? And are you switching the TV to watch the VCR rather than the Panasonic?

Sounds to me that what you have is the VCR feeding to the TV then the TV feeding that signal back down the SCART to the Panasonic. That would explain why the recording fails when the TV is switched off.

I would remove any connections between VCR and TV (SCART and RF). Only have it connected to the Panasonic. that way you can be absolutely certain that if you can see the VCR playback on the TV that is is coming via the Panasonic. if that is the case then you should be able to record the VCR even if you chuck the telly out the window
