I don't know. That's what I was bashing on about in the earlier reply.

Tried a manual update for software and rebooted the Sky box. Still no joy.
you could do a manual recording and auto view to change channels

I could - but it's hardly using the functions of the box properly.

ok on page 32 of manual have you tried switching from Line 1 to Antenna in number 5 on righthand side ??

and number 7 asks for confirm and you keep pressing No until it selects the correct one, so if you have selectedSkystb it should try all the codes until it selects the right one, alledgely

I wonder if scart control in Sky box has to be switched on?

Thanks for all your suggestions so far Niall.

SCART control is on (it was anyway).

I haven't tried that yet, I'm not near the machine at the moment so I will try Antenna, but I don't have the Analog tuner looped in. Not sure if it means it will use the ITV GuidePlus?

I think you will have to have the sky box RF 1 out to DVD antenna IN analogue

the DVD machine will change the channel to Eurosport , the RF out in the sky box will send the signal from the text on Eurosport ( thats why you dont need a subscription ) down the analogue RF cable to the DVD analogue tuner IN

I might be totally wrong, as I presume this is what happens and what I have in my head

but to me you have to control the sky box from DVD machine to change the channel to Eurosport or you wont get the EPG updated

unless it gets sent down the scart lead

I have been near the machine, but weeping over the football, so I will try your suggestions tomorrow when I feel like battering my head against another source of frustration!!

ok i tried it - same error down the RF cable, box attempts to tune 1001 and fails. This is an incompatibility or it's broken, wonder if it's just the G-Link eye?

Guide plus version 1.04/IR 1.217

Sky Thomson box: Model 122_045, Version number 4E0904, OS Version 1.2S4FI, EPG Software version 3.6.4.18

The best connection is via scart,so stick with that.
Try removing the G-Link and connecting it again, then try guided setup again.
If the same problem re-occurs,then select OTHER PROVIDERS,instead of SKY DIGITAL,and select THOMSON,from the list, and see whether the G-Link changes the channel.
If not then either contact Sony customer support or try the alternate setup,as advised by Guideplus.(Page 18)

right someone here set theres up as AMSTRAD for the sky box post 25

post 19 has your 1001 problem as well

HOWEVER if you look at post 57 it states host channel 0410 , which may help your box as there are 4 digit numbers for radio stations in sky set up !! maybe, maybe not !!

TV SCART on sky box goes to line 1

and positionig the g link as well in different positions helped as well

the AV forums are the opposite way about in where they post their replies

let us know how you get on

It works both ways - either with the ATV loopthru from Sky RF - it d/ls an update for the box code (think it's 036) and the channel changes correctly.

Just link it all up and leave overnight to do the download.

Tried it via SCART (no RF connection) and it works too.

The setup is via SKY|SKY Digital option, just say yes to it controlling the box even when it doesn't. Then after the download, reset the connection process, then it tries the new code and works.

Kinda. What about the 'other' channels? Like stuff the GuidePlus! hasn't picked up yet (say, LFCTV?)

Guideplus doesn't support all channels.
So those that don't appear in the channel editor, are not yet supported by Guideplus.
Its a case of manually recording these channels.

Erm, nope - the GuidePlus via Eurosport on SCART resets all my Digital Channels to 301 every update, so they are useless.

My experience thus far of GuidePlus is not fantastic - no option to add other channels and the Sky channel number allocation is old and out of date - Hallmark on 153, FiveUS and Fiver not even recognised - Bravo and something else I forget.

If you manually change the channel, it doesn't pick up the new channel info.

I've given in and reverted to ITV through the ATV tuner - will update tonight on how it performs.

seems an on going problem and your not alobe

I would seriously consider freesat + if it comes down in price ora sky box + if it drops the sky+ feature charge or even 12 months subscription is less than £299 for freesat +

Yeah. It seems so. Even on analogue it resets all the FV digital channels to channel 301. Full channel EPG, but I can't record from it (unless I want the BBCi Stream on 301).

I don't subscribe to sky so half the stuff it gives me a guide for I can't record.

Agreed - to all the points you made. It's absolute b*ll*cks, I don't know who to blame, Sony, GuidePlus or me! lol

Sky+ is easy to use, but I resent paying £10 to use it. I think I might have to go back to the Digital EPG and use the AutoView from Sky to switch the channels.

Bl**dy p*ss about!!!

Input 2 doesn't see the output from my Tiscali VCR SCART when connected via HDMI - although this may be a box limitation, it means the box is useless to record from if it is connected to the TV via HDMI.

I have just bought a HXD 890 and overall am reasonably pleased. However transferring some stuff from my old recorder via DVD RW is a bit hit and miss. The manual is a bit confusing and in the DVD > HDD mode all I do is keep adding the title. Can someone explain in plain English how to do this.
Thanks in anticipation.

Hmm, tried connecting to the TV by SCART and using the SCART output to connect to the Line 2 input with a SCART>RCA x3 lead. No joy.

Both the box outputs go to the TV via SCART so there is a signal there. Just doesn't go through the lead or pick up in Line 2. Don't think I can see any settings in the menu to enable Line 2 or change the input mode.

Have exchanged the lead in case it's faulty, will try it on the DVD player to the TV (i.e. in reverse) to see if it's directional.

RCA x3>SCART

Sorry Davbro, haven't used the DVD drive except as a player (which it is quite a good one).
