Let's face it, without him, there'd be no show. He's The Man.

Although Louis is my favourite, Simon is amazing.

The X Factor wouldn't be The X Factor without him. He's clever, creative, charming and a fantastic businessman.

I personally don't think he is 'Mr. Honest' as everybody has makes out; infact he is full of as much shite as the rest of the judges (eg. praising his contestants when they are awful, slagging off potential threats etc), but he's a great judge and he makes good television. He is also very, very, very funny.

Simon and Louis ARE The X Factor!

Simon forever.

He's the star of the show no matter what people say about Cheryl becoming the star of the show.

People wait to hear what Simon has got to say (good or rubbish).

Like I've said before, if I was a contestant, I would only want to impress Simon and the public, as they are the ones that can make the dream come true.

The others are just there to make up numbers and add to the glamour of the show.

He used to be my favourite judge, but I lost a bit of respect for him when he left Austin to do his Xtra Factor exit interview on his own. Not impressed! I'm afraid he's got a lot of making up to do where I'm concerned.

What were his reasons for leaving?

I could be wrong but I think that was the same day the stories broke about his relationship ending. Apparently, although it's just a rumour, he left to see his publicist.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm still really drawn to the guy and there would be no show without him.

...And he deffo deserved the special recognition award he received at the National Television Awards ceremony. I mean, he is the brain behind the two biggest talent shows in the country at the moment (X Factor and Britain's Got Talent).

About time he was recognised for his contribution

The same Simon Cowell who gave us Robson and Jerome's "Unchained Melody" and other monstrosities of music? No thank you. No appreciation from me. Simon Cowell hates music. Either that or he's incredibly ignorant, though admittedly, very clever.

He only produces lowest common denominator music, completely devoid of soul or even a smidgen of class and he is simultaneously the best thing to happen to TV and the worst to happen to music.

Think of awesome artists (in the truest sense of the word) like Annie Lennox, Norah Jones, Sheryl Crow, Ingrid Michelson, Tracy Chapman, Bob Marley etc. They'd never make it on shows like Cowell's where the objective seems to be to bludgeon the viewer over the head with a barrage of vocal histrionics.

Clever marketing man? Yes he is. Music connoisseur? Not in a million years.

I just hope Leona somehow manages to remain immune to formulaic drivel he specialises in. Despite myself, I think she is fantastic!

He hasn't been too appreciative lately...

It's true that the show wouldn't be the same without him.

Sorry but I think the guy's a snake who has limited taste in music.

Simon is hugely respected within the record industry..........say what you like about him, the man is a legend. In his list of thank yous inside his album sleeve Rhydian summed him up perfectly..........

The X Factor would not be the same without him.... and I'm glad to see perhaps he's taking his winners more seriously as more of them are recording albums with fewer/no cover versions.

Wonder what your view would have been last week before his comments regarding Leon?

How many versions of Unchained Melody has he been responsible for releasing?

As this is an appreciation thread, I'll keep to appreciating.

He is the x factor, the only important figure in it, whatever it means, good and bad.

It's true the show wouldn't have the same cred without him. If he does 'retire' from it, I think he'll have to make several guest appearances/be seen around to attempt to maintain said cred.

What did he say about Leon?

& there in lies one of the main problems with the show. It should be all about the talents of the contestants.

No accolades or appreciation from me. He's an excellent buisness man but lets face it he knows sod all about music.

Let's see if both you & Rhydian are as generous in your praise of Simon if his sales dry up. Simon shows no loyalty.

Respect in the industry more like a drain on it.

This is an appreciation thread, not a discussion thread about Simon!
