The reporting of "changed channels" when an update is done seems to cause some minor confusion. Is it reporting things like PIDs or (more rarely) frequency changes? Part of the point of a managed platform is to hide such things from the user. Reporting changes that are irrelevent to the user goes against that.

My feature request is for only changes that are relevent to the user to be reported, i.e. new channels, removed channels, and channels that have changed their name.

Must apologise for this post as Survivors WAS actually there when I checked on the weekend. In my defence, it was NOT showing after it should have been recorded. I think.

The ability to sort recordings by date would be nice.

I'd love to see the way information is displayed on the Foxsat LCD screen tweaked to facilitate use without having to power up the TV, for listening to the radio or MP3 files.

Currently I have to turn the TV on, navigate to the MP3 file/radio channel, start playback, then turn the TV off. This is due to the display only showing what is currently playing, rather than what is being highlighted on the TV screen.

If the Foxsat displayed the currently highlighted menu or file name, we could navigate to the channel or MP3 file without having to turn the TV on. This would make the Foxsat much more usable as a stand-alone digital radio and MP3 player.

Otherwise - great kit, I'm loving it

Ability to split a recording.

Wed night I recorded Transporter 2 and Lucky Number Slevin using Instant recording and the extend the recording time feature. I expected I would get 2 recordings as the Humax knows from the schedule when each and every program starts and ends.

However, I got a single file named Transporter 2.

I now have the 2 films under 1 title and the only way of accessing Lucky Number Slevin is to bookmark it and jump.

Given its hard drive based, would it not be possible to include a split feature to allow you to split any recording into 2 at a given point and rename the split half?

This would overcome the problem of using extended recordings which result in more than 1 program being recorded.

If combined with a delete function, it would also allow recordings to be trimmed at start and end to remove adverts.

I would like to have:

1. A simple editor to top and tail recordings, and remove ads (although I can't see ITV being keen on this), as most analogue HDD recorders have.

2. A transparent front flap which allows the remote control to work from anywhere in the room when the flap is closed !!!!!

I'd like to see the option to record multiple parts of a linked-recording, or not.

As it stands, if you chose to record (say) Strictly results it records the main Strictly program whether you want to or not.

You might quite easily be staying in and only want to record one part and not the other.

The problem with it recording both automatically is that you get needless clashes.

But on the other hand, you already get an option as to whether you want to record just one episode or series link. How hard would it be to add another line that says just this section (of a multipart program)? A tiny tweak to the code is all that would be required and it would be a nice improvement.

this ain't a personnal dig but it seems everyone wants a little tweek here and one there, someone wanted it to record all programmes that contained a particular actor, if it did perform everything we wanted it would cost a lot more money. I'm sure the implementation in place for your particular requirement is really quite sufficient.

I'm very happy with mine. The only real thing that annoys me is that I'm used to having a list of recorded programs in date order and while the idea of putting the recordings for a whole series in a folder is quite useful I would like a toggle between the current system (i.e. Series placed in folders) and a "flat" layout where all the recorded programs are listed in date recorded order.

I suppose I could get used to the Series placed in folders layout if only it hid the folders without any recorded programs in.

I've just had a look at this Rich not sure if its what you mean but if you press the media button then opt for the file manager as long as you don't have a usb or ext Hdd you should get two panes both showing the contents on the hdd..

if you select the folder in question and then the file you can press the green button to place it directly on the hdd next to the standard recordings effectively moving it out of the folder

Of course it's a matter of opinion. Personally I think not allowing you to record just one program directly from the EPG is bordering on a bug and certainly needs fixing. Having to resort to a manual recording is not a fix I find acceptable.

Adding Wishlists to record shows based on actor isn't a big deal, its a software feature, and not a very complex one at that.

However, there is such a thing as making something too complicated, these features need to be tested on a sample of people, you're not going to please all the people, all the time.

The vast majority of people watch the major channels so someway to sort the channels into a terrestrial type order through the BBC's, ITV's CH4's Five's, then movies, thrillers, horrors, etc leaving shopping and radio to the bottom would be really useful.

This is far more logical than sat channel number or alphabetical which both throw up essentially random meaningless lists containing both major and minority channels (ie ones the vast majority may never watch) all mixed up.


2. Don't know if this is possible, but the dogs are really annoying and some eg ITV 3 are solid and thus dangerous to plasmas. If its a seperate sub transmission rather than embedded at source, then an option to block dogs would be useful.

3. An easier way to add favourites. At the moment the only way I know is to go into the "List", highlight the required channel, then press Opt+, then navigate to Favourites, then select favourites number, then click add. Then start all over again for every other channel. Its very long winded.

What I'd like is to be able to be watching a channel and just press "Add to favourites". A dialogue could then come up asking for confirmation and to select favourite number. Pressing OK would then add it. Thats far simpler, doesn't require you to bring up lists and is far quicker and easier to use without missing some of a program you're watching.

I'm really pleased with the HDR. I'm still on the original SW as I've yet to run another down-lead from the dish and I can delete whilst recording without a problem!

I agree with most of these wishes, and would like to add a couple more.

1) could the OSD disappear after a few seconds when in pause - it's really annoying if I want to read a caption and it's obliterating it.

2) could we have a 150% high speed playback with sound. It was the only good thing about the rubbish sony PVR-DVD I had. It's good for watching bloated programmes like the gadget show. You get all the info in a third of the time.

I too would like a keyword AND also a genre search for programmes (not just channels). Good for checking what movies are on in the coming week.

I'll add my two penneth worth to the linked recording function. It took me ages to set the thing to record Strictly in HD and the results show in SD (it's only broadcast in SD). OK, I sorted it by manually adjusting the timer, but it took a few frustrating minutes to sort out what the problem was,

I can help you there, as the Foxsat works the same as the PVR. Press Exit on the remote and the OSD bar will go!

What about 'Menu' (button); Edit Channels; Edit Favourite List

My main problem with the Humax PVR is the ability to own one. The problem seems to be random, as some boxes show no tendency at all in this respect, yet I've had no end of trouble with mine. It just keeps not arriving, time after time. The "availability" button is greyed out.

I'm gald no one took me up on my maths. I did, of course, mean two thirds of the time when watching at 150% speed.

Wanted to add a 4. to my list above:

4. Schedule in Favourites. I'd really like to see the favourites list show not only the favourite channels but also the schedule for those channels.

There seems little point to me in using the favourites list at the moment because although you can go into it to get a compact list of your favourite channels, without a tv guide or going to the schedule first (which negates the need to go to the favourites list) you have no way of knowing what's on your favourite channels.

It would be really good, if going to favourites gave you a schedule list comprised of your favourite channels only. As then you could quickly skim down what was on your favourite channels until you found something you wanted to watch without the need to navigate anywhere else to check whats on.

I really want to be able to record non Freesat Channels via a scheduler. Also the ability to switch easier between Freesat and non-Freesat would be great.
