Does anyone know what the sales have been like this year.

In about June it was Gareth Gates - Spirit In The Sky, but with Beyonce and Black Eyed Peas since then...

So what is it then lala? Last I heard it was still Gareth, unfortunately, but I wouldn't mind betting that BEP if not Beyoncé will be coming close or overtaking it.

There's bound to be more charity records and film tie-ins before the year is out - so should be some challengers.

At least we can be thankful that Gareth's album has done terribly...

I read it was Gareth closely followed by BEP. So it looks as though he will be nominated for a Brit again.

Even the Brtis wouldn't touch him now- his credability is just about zero!

And he's (hopefully) going to be dropped!

The cumulative Top 40 of the year is listed on Dotmusic along with the Top 75 Singles & Albums.

At the moment Gareth Gates & The Kumars - Spirit In The Sky is still the best-seller of the year.
Black Eyed Peas have risen to 2 and R Kelly's Ignition is #3.

I wouldn't be suprised if BEP take over by the end of the year - I do not want to see him walking away with the biggest seller!

I'm afraid it might be inevitable that Gareth and the Kumars have the highest selling single. And if it is anything like last year it is the sales which count towards being nominated at the Brits. BEP are not British (are they?) so they won't count anyway.

This is why GG had two nominations last year for Best Single at the Brits. But Blue won it!

I think the Black Eyed Peas will get it. Despite their fall this week, they are still high up in the chart.

Gareth Gates Made it 2 No.1 in the chart after 34 weeks.

BEP have climbed to No.2 after JUST 7 weeks.

Liberty X won best single.

34 weeks? What the....? More like 2 isn't it!

Gareth sold 277,000 copies in his first week, compared to BEP 94,000. And Gareth was on 455,000 after 2 weeks, making him number 1 ahead of Tatu (as opposed to BEP on 184,000 after 2 weeks).Where did you read that!?!

Anyway BEP should overtake Gareth soon. Gareth has sold 551k.BEP were on 525k as of this Wednesday, but bizarre rumours have circulated that the single was DELETED this Friday! Anyhow they should still outsell Gareth with the remaining copies in stores (well I hope so!).

Black eyed pea's is now the biggest selling single of the year, so at least I won't have my Xmas dinner spoilt by having a certain gap-toothed tw*t singing the last song on Xmas TOTP

the top 3 sellers are all c**p, knowing that 500,000 plus bought something by GG is rather sad really, if you want to donate to charity just give Comic Relief the money direct don't waste it on a coffee mug coaster! Well Mr gates 15 minutes of fame are almost over, within a year he'll be completely forgotten just like most of the other rubbish muppet acts that reality tv has inflicted on us!

I am going to donate the money which I might have spent on the Children in Need single straight to the charity. I'm not putting the money into a record which I think is rubbish!

And I am a grannie but don't watch EastEnders

Ooooh, listen to Fast Eddie, the voice of "moderation & taste" in all his past threads!
GJP4636, the Gareth Gates single was for Comic Relief, Will Young's was the children in need song.

I'm afraid Charity songs will always have a place in the charts, I don't mind one or two in an artists career but GG has done 7 too many!

I thought Will and Gareth had only done one charity single each (as noted above).

"Spirit in the Sky " was particularly fab even if you are ambivalent to Gareth (and I'm not a fan).

Oh, come on - Shane Ritchie may be many things, but talentless is not one of them. He's single-handedly turned Eastenders around and put it firmly back on top of the soap tree. A little bit of player-hatin' going on here, methinks.
