Ok I have a humax Foxsat HDR. If I buy a Diablo lite cam and use it with a valid Sky card in non Freesat mode, I can watch CH4 HD plus the other FTA channels that require a Sky card, all of that I know.
There are a few things I am not sure about and wonder if someone can varify them for me. 1) It has been said that you may need to update the firmware on the Diablo, how do you do this? I have a tower pc which does not have a CI-Module slot, do you need to buy a spcial programer, or use a laptop? 2) I was told that you need to add your box number to the cam menu, again how do you do that, and is it the Humax system ID number, or that of a Sky box that you need to add? I was told this about the T Rex Dragon card not the Diablo so maybe it dopes not count for the Diablo? 3) I have also read that you need a loader card? Is this something that comes with the Diablo? Thanks. |

Hi rjay60
1. With a 'special programmer' called the cas3 ( you can get a deal where you get both items at a special'ish price) 2. Not needed 3. You get one in the box with the programmer, but its not needed when using the programmer with a diablo. |

The new Diablo cards are available elsewhere for much cheaper than from the link posted. You can even get one and the programmer for it for the same price as that website is doing for just the CAM.
Diablo and Dragon CAMs will work for Humax boxes allowing reception of BBC HD, ITV HD and Channel 4 HD all from one receiver. Just leave your FTV card in a Sky box overnight every 5 weeks. To get a Sky card to work with a Dragon CAM you have to go into the menu on the Humax and change the settings for the CI module, in there is an option to put your Sky box's number which is required to decrypt the channels, otherwise the software will realise the card and box aren't matched up correctly and no channels will come on. Not sure what way it works for a Diablo CAM. Loader cards should come with whatever CAM you buy. I'm not completely sure whether you do or not, but I did with mine, so I imagine it's standard practise. You do have to buy a programmer if you want to keep the system up to date. An old version of the sortware might stop working and you have to update, and youre stuck if you don't have a means to update it. Paddy

hmmm, looks like I'll be waking up the old card again! Apologies for the slight hijack, but anyone know which way up the card goes in a diablo cam?

Well, I'm not sure about Diablo, but in a Dragon CAM it has to go with the chip facing upwards instead of downwards like it would on a Digibox.

Do normal Sky channels work with these cams (assuming card is authorised)?

It seems that sky are introducing a new sky card around April, white rather than the blue as now and no house on it now going from off the sky site. As yet it is unknown whether these will work. |

Channel 4 HD
I keep seeing mention in this thread of CH 4 HD in non-freesat mode on an HDR with Sky FTV card in place using a CAM and the fact that it does work fine when using various CAMs. However, when I go to non-freesat mode and scan for channels, I NEVER see CH4 HD at all come up in the list of channels, why is this? Does the CAM+card need to actually be in place first for it to appear whilst tuning? I only ever see BBC HD and Luxe TV HD in the listings... (I know why ITV HD doesn't appear - red button - ch 5017 or similar when active, but I don't know why any other HD channel doesn't appear when it has a dedicated channel slot...)

A standard scan would filter out channels that are flagged as being encrypted channels. These are usually the pay (sky) channels, but also includes free channels opened up using a FTV card, such as C4 HD.
You would need to scan the transponder with the correct settings (ie all TV) for C4 HD to show in your channel list. The transponder is 11798 H - SR 29500 FEC 3/4. Liam |

The HDR's CI slot is quite useful for storing a USB memory stick in.

Help please!!!!!!!!!!!
I have programmed my Diablo CAM with underworld 149, set the config as per a previous mail, and SlY recon my SlY card is still active but no go on the CH4 HD front. The programme list shows that CH4HD is there but the TV screen says that it is a scambled service.
The sly card is in the CAM correctly! Can anyone help. Rgds Peter |

I have now updated the CAM to underworld 160, re checked the settings and still no luck. I can get CH4 & Five in standard definition!!
I am going to put the SlY card back in a SlY box and leave it overnight. Peter |
