Hi folks, having shelved out £400 on my 32 " toshiba lcd tv, the sound is very poor! its as if the speakers cant handle the volume! (its the best way i can describe it is when people speak its like it distorts) even at say volume 20 its as if the speakers are turned right up! is this correct with all lcd tv's! the speakers are just sub standard!

Should i take the tv back on these grounds? would i get a refund on such matter?

LCD's and Plasma's have very little space for decent speakers, so sound is often pretty poor - Samsung seem by far the worst at this, with many models having tiny downward facing speakers, with 2/3rd's of the cone blocked off with a plstic blanking plate to try and deflect the sound forwards through a small slot.

If you're not happy with the sound, then take it back - presumably you werent told that it had crappy sound?.

It may be faulty of course?, but most likely just a poor design.

if its distorting at a moderate level then its faulty but like Nigel says, dont expect miracles from flat panel tv speakers, the smaller the screen the smaller the speakers!

A cheap 2.1 speaker system would compliment the tv if you dont want to go down the "home cinema" route.
