Could we get the appreciation threads moved to a sub group, so that it is easy to pick out the good threads.

Been discussed before here...

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...iation+threads

and here.

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...iation+threads

Both these threads were locked by admin as this one probably will be.

The general feeling is that there have always been app threads and lots of other forums have them. The only forum with a sub forum is BB and that was set up due to the sheer volume of those threads taking up the whole front page.

My own personal view is that it ain't broke so there's no need to fix it (I'm actually quoting myself from one of the above threads! )

Contact the mods using the link at the top page...as I have done. If you don't, these ridiculous threads will clog up the forum indefinitely.

This thread will be deleted almost certainly like others on the subject.

Cannot believe the Brat and Flavia thread is on part 32! What do people write on these threads?

I can hardly ever be bothered nowadays to trawl through these to see if anything interesting is being debated.

This used to be a much more interesting forum...

Why do these threads get stopped? It is a perfectly reasonable request being politely made...

Reading those threads (good links, Quizmike), it looks like the mods don't want this sort of thing debated publicly, but would prefer suggestions to be sent privately...

As I have said many times when this has been raised, as someone how posts on the Gethin Jones thread I would be quite happy to have it in a sub forum. We are a much more respectable (part 3) at the moment. Our thread is not used for too much chat but is primarily for News about TV appearances etc. We try to refrain from 'bumping' as we know that annoys people, but we dont do anyone any harm surely.

It's the largest thread on the entirety of DS.

I'd love them in a sub forum!

And this series I've had to wade through 78,904 threads on John bloody Sergeant before even finding my one little app thread.

Why is an appreciation thread any less valid than any other thread on the forum?

If people want to write in them, where's the harm to anyone else? Just go to the second page!

Agree 100% Alli - its incredibly patronising of the OP to suggest that what you talk about is of more importance than what anyone else in the app threads is discussing. We even - shock horror! - discuss on ours the actual dancing, from time to time, believe it or not, which is CURRENT, as well as appreciating the person who is named in the app thread and general chat which is normal in threads that have been running a long time but which are still current.

So long as people stick to the rules of the forums, there is no harm in any of the threads - if you don't like it, don't read it. If I see something I don't like, I skip it - just because I may not like a particular thread doesn't mean that other people won't want to read it and take part in commenting!

the forums are for everyone.

Once this series is over and the majority of posters have disappeared off to wherever they go to between series, the forum carries on - mostly with the appreciation threads, so it would be a bit daft to put them in a sub-forum when there would be hardly any threads on the main forum. Unlike some other forums, the Strictly one carries on month after month and doesn't get shoved into a reality tv sub forum. Personally I have no objection to the appreciation threads staying where they are. I read and post on some of them and others I ignore. Isn't that what most people do?

It's not.

That doesn't mean that threads of a specific type shouldn't be grouped together. For example, threads relating to Strictly Come Dancing are in, ta-dah, the SCD forum.

Suggesting some level of sub-grouping is simply good information architecture practice - it helps us to find stuff.

There's no "value" assignment - despite the little jokes made.

I can understand and have no problem with previous series' contestants being in a sub forum, but I don't think the current series' appreciation threads should go anywhere.

The threads are just as current as any other thread posted.

And you may not find them any lesser in value, but they obviously annoy others if some of the other replies are anything to go by!

And if the appreciation thread goes into a sub forum, so does the anti appreciation and that's my 2nd favourite thread!

It's not so much that the content annoys me, as that it's hard work finding the other content (which I'm more interested in).
