New Phone
When you get a new phone is it safe to use it straight out of the box and then charge it fully when it runs out of power or will it break if you dont charge it fully before using it?

It won't break. Batteries, by nature, suffer from various issues such as memory effect. The reason to charge fully on the first cycle is so that you can get the battery to the right potential difference and use it to the full capacity. Otherwise it might wrongly "think" that capacity x is its maximum when it really is capacity y.

I think you mean, that a modern battery only reaches its full capacity after a few charges. GP industries make many batteries for handset manufacturers. Have a look at the documentation on their website. It puts some of the urban myths about batteries into context. |
