I know there are loads of Smiths fans on here, so I was just wondering what do you think is their best album?

The Queen Is Dead. Every track a classic.

I'd have to disagree and say Hatful of Hollow

Probably The Queen is Dead but every one of them is good.

I've always had a soft spot for 'Louder Than Bombs' cos it was the first Smiths album I bought.

Also, very similar, but what about a fave Morrissey album? Mine would have to be 'Bona Drag' cos it's got 'November Spawned a Monster' on it.

P.S. Smiths' fans will understand why I'm oh-so-proud to tell people that I've played football in Salford Lads' Club, and met Moz in a Salford boozer!

wasn't that a compilation? they'll 'ave you for that choice, so they will....

'The Queen Is Dead' for me too.

I do love Hatful of Hollow *almost* as much though. I've always considered it a normal album but I guess as it's a collection of BBC sessions and early recordings I suppose it's not technically a proper studio album, more a compilation. Erm, still great though

I know The Queen Is Dead is *supposed* to be the best, but I've always preferred Strangeways, Here We Come. Blasphemy to most Smiths fans, who think they had fallen apart by them, but I don't really see it: every song is a winner on that album.

It's my favourite of theirs by a long way.

It's one of life's little ironies that, although I've always considered myself a big Smiths fan, I never actually got around to buying 'Strangeways'. Hmph.

Really will have to buy it in the next HMV sale. (better late than never)

Thanks for your replies.

At the moment I've only got "The Very Best of the Smiths" (with Charles Hawtrey on the front), so it looks like I'd better go and buy all their albums.

A Smiths' reunion would be great, but with the recent legal cases this seems highly unlikely.

My Mother takes great delight in telling me that she saw The Smiths as the Free Trade Hall in Manchester. I just smile.

Also, would you really want to see it? How many other groups reform and just fall on their arses?

Me, I'd prefer to remember Morrissey when he was young and thin, and Marr when he was young and cool. Don't want this memory tainted, thank you.

Very unlikely. Morrissey recently said of Mike Joyce, "I wish the
very, very worst for Joyce for the rest of his life."

He doesn't get any mellower with age.
