No you're quite right. I'll have a look through other photos as well to see. Mind you I thought the judges were unnecessarily hard on his tango. Most men they'd have been over the moon with for producing a tango like that. Not quite sure why they didn't go for Tom's.
He got 4 9's and was second on the leader board after Rachel's perfect score. I wouldn't call this not going for it. I know I'm an Austin supporter, but I didn't like Tom's tango that much. His hold looked slighlty weird. However, back on topic, he looked good in the showdance, but I liked Austin as well. And as others have said, I'm not surprised he didn't give it his all if he had a dislocated finger. Let's face it if the same had happened to one of the girls they would have needed to be carried out on a stretcher.

PS: I'm a girl myself and very pain sensitive.

I have to say in the group dance, Austin looked like he was having the most fun and also he really looked the part and he was absolutely gorgeous; Tom sometimes just leaves me cold and he wasn't as good as Austin in the group dance. Sorry but I'm a big Austin supporter and this is just my own opinion.

Hmm, I disagree, I reckon Tom looked like he was having far more fun and I also believe he wants it more than Austin. The crazy guy moved his wedding (slightly OTT, but you can't knock his enthusiasm!)!!

Anywho, no point in really arguing, I've been set in my ways since the beginning and I adored Tom in the group dance. Tomilla ftw! =D

He did stoop a little bit in the Tango, I can't say I've noticed it in his other Ballroom dances. I wonder if the posture is harder to hold in the Tango? It's the only dance that varies from the normal Ballroom hold isn't it?
Though I love his Tango (one of my favourite Tom's dances), his pivots looked clumsy because he didn't place his feet right when doing it. Also his two legs should not be too wide. When he did that, there was a slight forward movement in his head. He's clearly struggling to keep the frame when doing a strong pivot sequence as such.

Also, he was struggling a little with dragging Camilla around the dancefloor towards the end and it didn't look good or strong.

Other than that, his Tango is thrilling to watch. Like his Dr Sam persona!

It's alright if you 'want it'. Just don't appear too desperate.

Loved Tom in the group dance last week. Could not take my eyes off him.

I thought it showed their diff attitudes rather than abilities, Austin seemed to look over at Tom and was daning in a happy "isn't this fun" way whereas Tom was just dancing for himself as well as he could, no criticism of Tom or Austin, i just thought Austin was treating it as a bit of fun whereas Tom was treating it as part of the competition!

Austin was late at the start and this seemed to throw him. I felt Austin wasn't in the groove of the dance unlike all the others. He didn't impress me like Tom did.

Just out of interest to anyone who has been to the filming, when do they do the group dance? I seem to remember someone saying (on a different week, that they film the group dances at the beginning of the show before they do the 'competitive' couple dances) although I could be wrong.

I think also Austin's a competitor, there was no incentive for him to try in a group dance, nothing was on the line, he was in pain, he'd only just had his dislocated finger put back, no wonder he didn't go for it.
I wouldn't really use the dislocated finger as an excuse....it's virtually an occupational hazard for a rubgy player so it probably barely registered with him at the time he was dancing

All the competitive dances are done in the lives show on the Saturday. But the group dance does come before the dance off. I think it may be done in the gap between the live and the results because they obviously have to change costumes for the group dance and then change back again for the results.

I actually thought the complete opposite.

I thought Tom was loving it, hence his glances over at Austin, wanting to share it with his friend, whereas Austin was in the zone, competing and not acknowledging anyone else.

Even in the judge's comments, when Len praised the 2 boys, Tom looked over the share the moment with Austin, where Austin was looking ahead and didn't take Tom on.

I love them both, but thought Tom did edge the group dance.
