Fondue

Am i the only person who thinks that fondue is cool, sociable and should be brought out of the 70's and into today's dinner parties?

We have dinner parties where we start with the cheese and bread, for the main course we make a sauce, use the fondue bowl to heat oil and then cook the raw pieces of meat (gives you time to chat) and then for dessert we have a chocolate fondue with various fruits and sweets (strawberries, grapes, cherries, marshmallows etc).

BRING BACK THE FONDUE. It's cool.

Yes, as a family we had a fondue set in the late 60/early seventies. We just used to cook meat in it though, my mother would have dropped down dead on the spot if she saw the mess that cheese makes.

True. It does burn on the bottom of the pan but if you eat it quick enough and keep turning the heat on and off it's not too bad.

I love fondue as well. Have them loads when away skiing. its a really nice way to pass an evening when there isnt much inclination to do anything else!! Also Raclette and Pierrade(?) are in a similar vein!

Fondue is amazing! We have it whenever we go to France. Although one must watch for the chee-poos that soon follow! Heehee!

I've got a raclette machine, it's wicked and whenever we've had people over to use it, they've gone out and bought one themselves.

Fondue is the kind of thing that is great when it's snowing, or you're at a ski resort or something.

Went to the most horrid fondue restaurant in Bruges - my coat still smells of cooking oil after dry cleaning!

I find meat fondue a bit tedious - I'm too impatient!

Chocolate fondue - hmm, I'm not worried about double dippers!

My family have always loved fondue and now my grown-up daughter has 'borrowed' my Le Creuset fondue sets so that when she has a 'girlie night' with her friends, they all love her to do a fondue for them.

She does an oil fondue and a cheese sauce fondue to start with lots of salad , baby new potatoes and French bread.

She has chicken, beef, pork, good quality sausage with mushrooms, courgettes, peppers, etc.

She then has a chocolate fondue sauce with bananas, grapes, strawberries, pears, apples and marshmallows.

They have the traditional forfeits for anyone who loses their food off the fondue fork when its cooking and lots of wine!
Great night guaranteed
