Not sure if you are charged for it but the way to get it for free is to simply call your own number, enter you're pin and retrieve your messages. The call will be charged simply as a call to a mobile number.

Incidentally, Orange contract customers are charged 1p each time they receive a delivery report on a text message. Turn it off!

All depends on what tariff you are on.

You get free voicemail on the following tariffs:

Panther (all plans)
Premier 600 and 900
Racoon 18 month plans from 2006
Everytime 200, 400 and 1000
Virgin EQ
T-Mobile EQ
One2One EQ
O2 EQ on 200, 250, 400 and Max
Talk500, 1300, 1800, 5000 and 10000
Business Plans
Liberate/Fox/Squirrel/Owl

On these plans above, voicemail is charged at 0.000p and classed as a "Non Inclusive" call.

On all other plans* voicemail comes out of your allowance of minutes, and is classed as an "Inclusive" call. Call charges out of the allowance vary, from 5p/min to 15p/min

* Voicemail on Everyday 50 is inclusive on off peak calls only, 10p/min at other times. Both on Everyday 50 and Talk 30, you could choose to have voicemail outside of the minutes if you so wished.

Hope that all helps!!
