Is Christine the new John?
If Christine escapes the bottom two again this week after being (probably) bottom with the judges and anyone other than Lisa is eliminated, will we hear the calls to vote on the dancing not the personality again? If not -why not?

because, regardless of her personality,
a) She can actually dance b) she has improved quite a bit c) she puts in a great effort to do well d) she shows great promise as long as she nails it It is NOT a JS scenario. |

I enjoy Christine's performances (even if she isn't technically the strongest) and think she's a very likeable lass.
I'm afraid people will simply have to get over the idea that viewers vote purely on the dancing. It plays a big part, but towards the end of the series, when there's little to separate the celebrities, other factors are bound to influence us as well. |

In addition to agreeing entirely with mossy, it may also be worth pointing out that Christine ending up at the bottom of the leader board is not the inevitability that is implied by the OP's question. I don't think she will top the leader board, but she certainly has the potential to come fourth or even (at a pinch) third, if she nails her dances and Lisa and Austin don't (a scenario not completely outside the realms of possibility, if a bit unlikely).
On that fact alone, I would say that the answer to the initial question is very definitely, no. |

Also, I don't think Christine is scoring as many votes as the boys.
I believe the leaked votes to the People from a couple of weeks back. IIRC John 1.7m Tom 9k Austin 7k Christine 5k Jodie, Rachel about 3k Lisa 2k. Obviously there may be fluctuations depending on dances and positions on LB, i.e. bottom might get more votes However, if Christine comes bottom on judges LB tomorrow I don't think she will score more public votes than either Austin or Tom. Therefore she gets 3 points for the public vote. She will have to only be 1 place or 2 places behind Rachel on the judges leaderboard to ensure she is not in the bottom two with Lisa. (I'm assuming Lisa has least or 2nd least public votes and is almost certainly in bottom 2 again.) Thats my thoughts anyway. |

Yes - she owes a lot of her popularity to her partner; no - she's not as bright or as likable.

Do the dance purists think that would be OK?

the point I am making is that if Christine is as popular as it seems, she may go on to win the show
Past winners have always been the best and most likeable dancers - Tom and Austin fall under those categories and are likely to be attaining more votes than any of the remaining girls. Moreover, as soon as someone leaves, another celebrity hoovers up their votes - whose to say it will be Christine? She might squeak through another week (fingers crossed), but I can't see Christine's Strictly journey progressing much further. |

I didnt say Christine finishing bottom was inevitable - only probable. I think thats a fair enough call. Really the point I am making is that if Christine is as popular as it seems, she may go on to win the show. Do the dance purists think that would be OK?
In answer to your point, I'm with Sid. I am guessing that Christine will go out this week or (I hope) next (I wouldn't mind seeing Lisa go first, but that is very much just me), which, to me at any rate, would be a fair reflection of her capabilities in relation to the rest of the field. |

Hopefully people in general are a bit wiser now to the manipulative nature of this show and the ease with which the viewers / voters can be played.
If the least talented or worst performing of the remaining couples wins the show, I think most thoughtful viewers will be philosophical irrespective of what the judges or anyone else say about it. Of course that doesn't preclude hysteria in here.

I think if Christine turns up does her dance well, she has as much change of winning as anyone else has. Some vote purely on dance some vote on dance and how entertaining the couple are. Christine to me is the heart of the show. She works hard, she is not perfect but she so enjoys the experince of being on the show and learning a new skill.
Go Christine, I think your fab |
