Any one use them? Got any thoughts on them?

Do you mean the halogen ones that look like a big glass bowl with a light and a fan in the top (well, they don't just look like that, they are like that), or do you mean the box shaped ones that are just like a mini conventional oven ?

If the latter - don't know.

If the former, I have one (JML do them but mine was from somewhere else) and they are really good. There was a thread a little while back and I think if you search for halogen ovens you should find it.

I know that you can get them in TJ Hughes now, but other than that they are only online or from the TV or those magazines that come with the Sunday papers.

They are not perfect (what is), but if you live alone - or are a small family (mine is smaller than the JML one so that is why I said live alone), or are limited for space they are great - cheap and easy to use, easy to clean and cook really quickly. I use mine loads. My Dad was so impressed that he bought himself one.

When we were getting the kitchen done out we used our Microwave-Combi Oven/Grill. Once you follow the instructions and after a few trial & errors it can easily be a stand in for a conventional oven.

I have one of these. I use it for all sorts, even baking bread. There are 3 of us in my house, and it easily fits in enough to feed us.

We had a fan oven/grill with two hot plates on top when we are having our kitchen done..
We only used it for a week or so.. But it definately did the job.. The oven was really good. The only problem was getting used to cooking on a hob that was at eye level

Ha ha ha..well fortunately the hob and grill on my boat are good..just the oven is lame, can take up to an hour to cook oven chips! Pizza just cooks the the base and by the time the top is browned the base is burnt!!! So what I've been doing is cooking the base then browning them under the grill. Cooking meat can take weeks!
Thanks for all your help folks.

I had a little mini oven with two plates on the top and an oven/grill underneath. It lasted me a good few years (it was second hand) until the door handle fell off and I'd had enough I tell you what though, I managed to produce a few Christmas meals out of it! You could just fit a bird at the bottom with a tray of potatoes at the top Grand little thing it was.

This one I've got is 15 litres which should be just about big enough for a small chicken. Aparently it gets up to temperature in 5 minutes too so it should be quick. It's a Tefal Crousty! (sp) Can't wait!
