The semi-finals has usually been the last dance of the "basic 12" plus the Argentine Tango. The final is always the contestants' choice of one Ballroom, one Latin and one Freestyle (plus judges' choice if there are only two finalists).

This year, though, they will get through the "basic 12" at the end of week 12, so the dancers will presumably do an Argentine Tango in the semi-final and another dance. They could put the extra dance into week 12 and have a basic dance left for week 13, but I don't think so - my calculation is that Rachel/Vincent would end up doing Tango and AT in week 13, and they're not that daft.

So, what other dance do we have in Week 13 along with the Argentine Tango? Suggestions?

There has been talk of a Mambo but I don't know if there's any basis for the gossip.

I'm only guessing but I think next week it is the ballroom they haven't done plus the mambo

I wonder if they might do as is done in DWTS - they pick a particular style of dance to perform that they've done well with previously, choreographing a new routine with new music. Otherwise, perhaps the Jitterbug?

Not sure that can be the case, unless they do the remaining latin and the Argentine Tango next week...could be a good way to do it, I guess. I'd like to see as many ATs as possible. It's such a gorgeous dance!

Thats something I always enjoy about DWTS-seeing the improvement in the dances.

Mambo would be fab, although after the group dance, I would quite like a bit of disco or swing.

They included the Hustle as one of the dance styles in DWTS this year. Perhaps that might be one they will use. Having said that though, the Disco routine they did last week was the Hustle.

DWTS does seem to include a wider range of styles than our Strictly.

All a bit shinier and more "showbiz" too.

Lindyhop is definitely a dance but I don't think it was on DWTS this year...that was the Jitterbug I think??

bridgerton, yeah, the lindyhop was not on DWTS, but I would quite like it on Strictly, a very high energy fast fun dance if I am recalling it right.

Plus we'd get lifts.

With so many couples this year the basic ballroom and similar salsa/samba (not that they should be but they do bleed into one abit) all are a bit stale now.

Wasn't Lindy hop on Strictly a few years ago? or was it that other dance programme with Graham Norton? Can't remember. Anyone else.

There was a demonstration of Lindyhop on either SCD or DWTS last year but it's never been danced in the actual competition.

the dance chosen has to be one the professtionals are professional at SURELY???? it is bad enough we get poor salsa (with exception of Brian) year on year and Mambo far too similar to Salsa to be the replacement dance.

Lindyhop, Jitterbug are NOT dances the professionals are familar with as in the the ballroom and Latin dances - I feel it will be a dance they have done well at redone new music etc as DWTS

Yep. The couples on Strictly Dance Fever had to dance one of three "wartime dances" one week; the foxtrot, the lindyhop or the jitterbug. Those couples doing the foxtrot were fairly slated as I recall...

DWTS doesnt have salsa but mambo instead so I would rule it out but knowing the Beeb anything could happen they actually made a dance up for SDF - but the thing they must remember is it should be a dance the professionals KNOW

Something new would have a big impact I think.

The AS is cool as it has lifts, but there is not a massive difference in all the ballroom dances to the average viewer. Okay I mean me.
