just purchased a YAMAHA RX-V363 amp ..cant hear any sound from rear surround speakers ,,when i do the auto mike setup i can see them on the front display but it does not test them ..i press setup volumes but the values do not change for these speakers any help please

If eveything is connected properly, then it sounds as if it is faulty.

It is possible that there is a short in the output stages, cabling or the speakers themselves. But normally that would only affect one channel, not all the speakers (ie one channel would be left rear, a second the right rear).

Alternatively, you could have the output set to stereo, rather than any of the surround options, but the test would still be good, as it should override the output type.

Perhaps you have the front speakers connected to the rear outputs and the rear speakers connected to the rear? Even so, I would expect each speaker to fire - just incorrectly.

So, apart from not connecting the speakers at all, I'm at a loss to explain what's going wrong. A fault in the amplifier seems to be the only sensible response.l
