I'd use the DVI to HDMI cable rather than DVI to VGA but that's just me!

The back of the Sony has a standard 15pin VGA port (female) you need a male 15pin VGA plug (with pins sticking out) Something like <this> should do

I got a cheapy HDMI to DVI lead from fleabay for about £7... something similar to <this>

Now, as for your TV manual, it is the same manual as for the 32S4000, download it <here> (6mb in size)

thanks, i thin someone said dvi-vga was better than dvi-hdmi...

not sure? was possible going to run a avi file of my powerbook and watch on my 32 lcd tv? would dvi-vga or dvi-hdmi be best for this?

EDIT:

above confirms that dvi-hdmi is best. i think dvi-hdmi is all digital whereas vga is analogue? so guess it should be best..

yes that's right, DVI to HDMI keeps the signal digital throughout and DVI to VGA converts digital to analogue and back to digital giving poorer results, well more theoretically than in reality! Both worked quite well for me... HDMI seemed slightly better, maybe... possibly.

Don't forget that you might need to run a seperate audio cable as well, on my PC only graphics goes down the DVI socket so I have to connect a 3.5mm stereo lead between pc and TV.
