Home cinema connectivity.
Hello, everyone. Can anyone please advise me?
I have a Panasonic Viera 42" plasma TV connected to DVD recorder and Sky Plus HD box. I am considering buying a Samsung HT-X810R soundbar home theatre system. It has one HDMI connection. I will remove the DVD recorder but need to know how to connect the system with tv and Sky Plus HD to achieve best sound. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Dennis |

Fairly straight forward - connect the SkyHD directly to one of the Panny's HDMI inputs. Connect the Samsung via the other HDMI input of the Panny. Finally connect the optical audio output from the SkyHD to an optical input in the Samsung, (using an Optical audio cable ) to get surround sound from the SkyHD box.
Lastly you may have noticed that on the back of the Panasonic there is a pair of audio output sockets, (red and white.) These can be connected to the Samsung as well if you want use it for "normal TV" sound. Last edited by hardeep : 29-11-2008 at 12:48. Reason: numerous spelling errors |

The SKY+HD HDMI will go to the TV as usual and the optical output will go to the soundbar, pretty much as you would with any tv and standalone amp setup.
Using the inbuilt DVD player of the soundbar will of course mean connecting the HDMI output to a second HDMI input on the TV. |
