Digihome DTR250 EGP
coldwind
29-11-2008
I own a Digihome DTR250 Top Up TV box and live in the Borders TV region from the Selkirk tramsmitter. On Nov 6th when BBC2 analogue was switched off the programme details from BBC3, BBC4, CBBC, CBeebies, BBC News Channel and BBC Parliament disappeared from the EGP. The channels are still visible but nothing can be recorded from them because there is no guide! On Nov 20th, the big switch over day, Channel 5 followed the same way. Software version on the box is 4.8. Top Up TV can't help, neither can Digital UK or Freeview. Is it up to the manufacturer (whoever makes Digihome) to send an over air upgrade? If so how would i find out about it? Any advice gratefully received.

I don't know whether there might be anything to help in the thread "PVR80 won't get MuxB from Selkirk", it covers quite a lot. That might be where I got the following contact info (I copy everything for a rainy day, even when not immediately affected ):

Hi,

Does your ariel point at Selkirk or one of the local relays? If Selkirk, the frequencies are 53,55,57,59,60,62 - the BBC channels are on C62, so if there's a manual scan option in the menus try scanning only CH62

I assume you have already performed a factory reset (initial install) then re-scanned for all channels?

Where and when did you buy your unit? If it's Argos,Asda,Tesco, take it back, say it's faulty and you should get a replacement, or offer of a rufund.

I am in Galashiels and had perfect Freeview reception for 3 years off the Selkirk transmitter but since switchover, I now cannot get any of the current DigiHome models to record properly, although I can watch all channels 'Live' and the EPG is fine.

Keep us posted as to progress.

The ariel points at the main transmitter, not a relay. The Digihome does not have a manual scan option (I don't think - can't find it anyway). On Ch62 the frequency strength is strength 8 or 9 out of 10 when watching BBC channels.
I have carried out a factory reset and rescanned.
Recording of all the channels is fine, although without an EGP I can't record from the missing channels.
Bought from Tesco so I might take it back. I see ASDA have a different brand with a 250GB harddrive (V... something). Are they worth a try?

Asda are doing 2 versions. The Luxor and the Thomson TUTV - AVOID the Thomson like the plague!!!

The Luxor came highly recommended by my local ariel engineer - I think it's a re-badged Vestel T845, identical to the Digihome unit.

Worth a try, you can always take it back if it doesn't get all the channels.

I think the Luxor probably uses TUTV software. See post here

And, of course, that means there is no point taking the Digihome back to swap it for a Luxor, since the units will both be the same, apart from the badge. Really, IMO TUTV should be taking more of an interest in this problem - they should at least be aware of switchover problems like this. I wonder if there have been any similar reports regarding the Thomson TUTV boxes - if so, then clearly TUTV are responsible for sorting the issue out one way or another.

Swapped the Digihome for the Luxor. Initial set up was fine. All channel programme details that had been missing on Digihome box were visible again. Next day, Ch5, BBC3, BBC4 etc all missing the EGP info again!! How could this happen? I am stumped! Did a full reset and scanned again, all to no avail.
What is puzzling me is how the EGP could be ok one day and the programme details gone the next. The only thing that had happened was the TUTV Anytime programmes being downloaded onto box.
