how can four professional judges score so differently. one gives a perfect score, others give 7's and 8's

and to think they berated the simple, humble tv viewer for their marking

sheesh

I'm not happy Len ignored Tom's mistakes in the Waltz and gave him a 10 when it was clearly not perfect, just like he did with Gethin last year.

yes but then Len gave an 8 to austin and Erin while the other 3 gave 10's. I think he needs his vision testing. What dance was he watching?

Der Chef says

I think tonight in the back of the fab 4's mind was to try to make sure Christine danced her last.

i.e. trying to get the boys below Lisa and Rachel

Ohh Yeah

didnt quite work

Bruno was dishing out 10s like sweets.

Len was overlooking mistakes in some dances but not others.

Austin got a string of perfect scores for yelling a few times.

Rachel & Christine's Latin got the same score from Craig

Thats what we said at home and then the Rachel Paso happened and they marked her as high as they could without being blatently obivously favouring her and so could help the positioning!

Time to sit back and see what the result of their posturing is!!

Exactly the reason there is 4 judges - if they all liked the same thing, they would only need one.
who me?

Giving Austin a 10 for basically playacting a dance, however dramatic it looked made it a farce for me. At least other people like Lisa and Tom put an effort into really learning two dances and maybe Tom suffered as a result.

The purpose of judging is to achieve consistency.

They are supposed to be looking for the same thing - that's the point!

I think the judges should stop moaning about the viewers voting on entertainment not the dancing since they did the same thing tonight.

Oh come on Sid, I know I'm a fan and you're not but even the blind must see he did a bit more than yell! I agree it was more flamenco than paso but it was an astonishing performance from a rugby player, or frankly, any amateur dancer.

On the contrary, I'm a big fan of Austin's (although not as taken with him as I was at the start) and I've said elsewhere that I admired and enjoyed how he approached the dance with such gusto!

But if it's lacking in content, he should be marked down. The judges seem to pick and choose who they penalise and for what.

I think the judges are having a laugh, the scoring this series has been terrible, may not watch next time as the arguments and comments are not worthy of a show like this.

He was right on Austin - all performance too little dancing. An OTT Tom would easily out do a OTT Austin but he wasn't playing the same game tonight.

The other judges have a problem marking acting - its either a 10 for them or a 7 and its arguable both ways with Rachel and Tom and Austin and it may look different on TV than tehre too. Lisa seems to me not to act much at all which seemed to work with the judges tonight but got other people 7s and 8s.

I wholeheartedly agree. I NEVER thought I would see the day when I would agree with Len and disagree with Craig. I look forward to the Pasoes and Tangoes as they are my favourite dances. But there is no getting round it Austin's Paso had NO content. I hadn't seen a Paso with so little content since Emma and Darren's in SCD4. I can only imagine Craig was watching Austin's pecs and not the dance

The judges have fixed the leaderboard. How can Rachel get a 10 when Len said he couldn't see her footwork.

If you can't see it to judge you deduct a point- you don't just give them the benefit of the doubt

I would have said the opposite - don't mark it down unless they definately see a mistake.

I liked the fact the judging was all over the place makes it more interesting.

Without commenting on the actual dances, I would have thought the final placings couldn't have been better if the judges want their top four to go forward.

Lisa top to give her maximum chance of going through after a disappointing two weeks when she was in the dance-off. So any one of the next three could be in the dance-off (all would win against Christine).

If the public vote for Christine is so strong the judges can't get Christine in the bottom two, I just think they'll have a 'shock exit' - which is just bread-and-butter to the Strictly spin doctors.

its obvious they want Rachel to win

I agree with CityofRoses. How can the judges throw a strop about the public not voting on the dancing and then mark like that? Either they've finally lost the little they had left of the plot or they're taking the p*ss. Either way the lunatics have taken over the asylum.

Because an experienced dancer like Len is capable of making an educated guess about a dancer's footwork based on the movement of their body.

The rise and fall Rachel achieved indicated that her footwork was spot on.

Great, so all the female celebs can wear big meringues and wheel round like the women in Camberwick Green.
