Have been reading the reviews of this phone and it looks really good. Does anyone know when it will be avaliable in the UK.

Nokia has been really obscure on that point.Should be expecting it Q1 2009 although i'd venture to say early april. Few quirks i've read about it kinda diminish it(slow ui) but as nokia is only testing the market with this, i expect their Nseries touch screen phone to be top notch.

Since its already out in a few countries and more have just been announced I would expect it in a month or so.

From what I've seen the speed question has been improved alot. Have a look here http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=gtJ8ScsHylY for a side by side comparison. iPhone seems really slow compared to many of the 5800 functions.

This Friday 23rd in their London flagship stores and the week after for the rest of the UK... as I wrote in the bigger thread about this, I came across this when looking for reviews and things. http://www.boringstudent.com/total-b...nokia-giveaway

It has more information about the launch and Nokia's prize for the first 100 customers on Friday morning... I can't get down there but if you're a London person - give it a shot?

Hopefully mine will be here tomorrow as I just received confirmation from Nokia that it's just been shipped via UPS and I paid for express delivery.

Fingers crossed

Just got it about 2 hours ago and so far not been able to try it - it's still charging! It's a really good looking phone though and everyone in work here says it's 'posh'. I like how the red line around the phone is sort of 'pearlescent' - get's brighter depending what angle you look at it.

Was quite shocked at how light it is when all reviews mentioned how bulky and big it is. I don't find it bad at all and it's thinner and lighter than my K800i.

Wish it would hurry up and charge though

Loving it so far - much better than my old Sony Ericsson Xperia X1!

Touch screen works a treat, web browser is excellent and typing is easy.

The only let down so far is not having a BBC iPlayer app. Hope it gets supported soon!

Converting some videos at the moment to show off this beauty to friends tomorrow

Although the phone itself is released 23rd, CPW instore say they won't get it until at least a WEEK later !

I find that hard to understand. Why not have in instore for launch !

http://www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/4...e/Product.html

£239 at play.com

Cheaper with quidco.

Just been using youtube on the phone - plays through the browser itself or through RealPlayer on the mobile version.
Quality could be better to be honest, but I think it's down to the settings as I only changed the RealPlayers streaming setting a bit and noticed a big difference straight away. Also the firmware version is 10.0.010, when I believe 11.0 has just been released which fixed many bugs including the browser. Haven't been able to update yet though, might not be available in UK yet possibly.

Have to say, I find the menu really quick which I thought would have been a problem seeing as it's an S60 phone (my old N73 was laggy as hell!!).

Really do like this phone!

This only heightens my interst in getting the 5800 !!!

and finally, play reduce the sim free price, there was no way they were surely going to charge £400 quid for it !

I'm interested in the option from play.com now however how do they deliver mobile phones, courier ?

It was, ordered it about 2 weeks ago.

So far it's good news regarding the phone -

Nokia announced today that it has shipped the millionth Nokia 5800 XpressMusic device, a milestone that coincides with the successful sales start of the device in the UK. The latest in Nokia’s XpressMusic range, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is the company’s first mass market touch screen device.

Following its introduction in October 2008, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic has seen successful sales starts in a number of markets, including Hong Kong and Moscow where the device sold out within hours of the sales start. Earlier today at the official sales start of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic in the UK, more than 150 customers queued outside the Nokia Flagship Store on London’s Regent Street to be among the first to own the device.

Received it today, I LOVE it so far, it's fantastic The screen is great and really bright, and the input methods (apart from handwriting, I haven't really used that) are fantastic.

Reccomend this phone to anyone

Has anyone here successfully updated their 5800's firmware yet?

Someone on AVForums managed it by just going to the update menu on the phone, however mine says I already have the latest firmware.... but it's v.10. The new firmware is v.11

Well after looking and reading review after review forthe past 2 weeks of this phone I finally decided to go ahead and buy it yesterday.

I ordered from nokia online and apparently there's no stock left and the estimated shipping time is 3 to 4 weeks . I knew there would be a high demand but I didn't think that long!So I rang Nokia to check and the guy said that was a loose date and that it's likely to be 2 weeks max. Going to ring back early next week and see what the status is like then.

Anyone know anywhere else (except for Play) where the phone is/will be on sale for about £250?

Can't believe i'm going back to an s60 device after the past 3 did my head in!

Doh! Knew when I ordered I would've ended up seeing it somewhere cheaper. Not gonna cancel my order and reorder through, would mean going to the back of the preorder queue.

Depends on the precise model number/region variant. V11 may not be available for all territories .... yet.
