I'm sure everyone but me knows the answer to this, but why does Bruce keep saying the "doddery I am not" thing? I feel like I missed an in joke somewhere along the way.

I think it's a play on his very famous (so those of us of a certain age ) catchphrase 'Nice to see you ... to see you ....NICE!'

I think it's in response to people saying that at his age he's past presenting a show as popular as Strictly.

I think in a News of the World article, Nicole Cutler (once she was out of the show) was reported as saying Bruce was "doddery", although whether she actually said that or not is open to interpretation, as it WAS the News of the World!!!! Ever since he has been saying the "doddery I am not" phrase.
