I will try and find the snippet. I had a look online but couldn't remember her name. It is Jay Hunt.
Editing to say that I have found the article online.

Here is the relevant piece.
Quote:
“Less than two weeks ago, Hunt found herself in the middle of some unorthodox talent negotiations when John Sergeant turned up in her office and announced that he wanted to leave Strictly Come Dancing. It was, according to Hunt, entirely Sergeant's decision. "I have known John for maybe 20 years, and the notion that John Sergeant would be told to do something I find faintly laughable," she says. "I had several conversations with him on the morning that he resigned, trying to dissuade him, because I honestly feel that the public had voted to keep him in the show and I wanted him to stay. I was very, very sad when he decided to leave."
Hunt is not privy to the results of each Saturday night's Strictly phone vote in any greater detail than the viewers at home, so she has no idea whether Sergeant was indeed on track to win the competition. What she does know is that the controversy has done Strictly's ratings no harm at all which, in a competitive Saturday-night TV marketplace, is good news for Hunt. She stresses, though, the need for "range and quality" on BBC One, as well as big audiences.”
