This years judges have been rubbish.
They dictate who is voted out to much instead of the public voters.
Next year get rid of those 4 out of date judges and in there place.
Have karen as head judge and then as the proffesional dancers are voted off they join the panel.

The show is getting nearly 10m viewers.

It's a steptacular TV phenomenon. Like it or not, the judges take a share of the credit for that.

Why would they change them?

Of course there is bound to be a range of opinions about them but surely a little practical common sense in the debate would not go amiss.

I think a little practical common sense in the judging wouldn't go amiss either.

We are often told, for instance, that the judges are looking for different things - technical standard, good choreography, performance, and hence the difference in their marks. But shouldn't all of these elements work together to produce a good dance. Surely something is wrong if they are in conflict with each other, which is the only reason I can think of why they should produce such different marks.

If it isn't broken then don't fix it and frankly I think moaning about the judges is part of the show - Karen would be a disaster on the panel - her programme on Living showed it and a member of the professionals turning judge on the programme would never work

The 'conflict' is largely manufactured. It's a pantomime. You'll notice that the audience even boos them on cue. It's a big clue.

I'm critical of the judges too...BUT I don't lose sight of the fact that the better dancers normally get through to the business end of the competition. It's not difficult to find inconsistencies but the scoring system at the judges' disposal is very limited. Ultimately, as long as the placings are about right - which they are, the questionable logic of individual scores really doesn't matter that much.

I think on the whole the present judges are just fine and get it right most of the time. I didn't agree with the top of the leader board last night as I thought Austin's paso should have been top, but I dare say they (the judges) know more about the dance than I do. If you want to see bad judging can I suggest you watch the X-Factor.

Seems that the public were not listening then. And it was the public who kept in those with lesser ability at the expense of those with greater ability.



So we start off with 1 judge and end up with 7 or so? Or the judges change week by week (thus ensuring no consistency of marking)?

OP I like the judges and they do entertain me. But imo Len is overdoing it by toing and froing to the USA and he's so snappy it's beginning to be too much too often to remain entertaining. He jumps on Craig like he is being ridiculous but Craig is the one judge that's got it right, mostly. He is fully entitled to his opinion without being judged himself so Len should back off or take a break.

I wouldn't want to see him or any of them go, but I would like a fifth guest judge in the form of the professional that was kicked out the week before, but they could only critique and not vote. That could be interesting

On Dancing with the stars in the USA they have only 3 judges, maybe the BBC could take note and simply get rid of one.

On what grounds?

The judges just need to tone down their comments (ie, cut out the personal remarks although, of course, they would still have the right to criticise the dancing, performance and choreography when they feel it necessary) and keep their tempers under control.
