Disable AV switching on Sony KDL-32W4000
Does anyone know how to disable the automatic AV switching on the scart sockets (either AV1 or AV2) on this set?
I have a Topfield 5800 PVR plugged into my new telly via AV1 and everytime it comes out of standby to make a recording I get switched to the AV1 input. I know there is a firmware patch (Ds) to supposedly stop this, but it doesn't work for me. Is my only option to cut Pin 19 (?) or is there a better solution? Geoff |

Cut the wire to SCART pin 8 (status... DC control signal). This USED to work but that wire has other fuctions these days???
Best to cover the end of the wire with tape. http://www.leadsdirect.co.uk/technical/scartwiring.html Mark the lead as a modified lead. |

Well you can either manually re-change the channel you want to watch or cut pin 8 as mentioned. Note this will probably also stop the widescreen switching signal from working so the TV won't change aspect ratios for widescreen programmes for that device.
My Panasonic DVD recorder does the exact same thing on my Sony 32W4000 and I simple change channelon the TV once the DVD has tried to override the TV. It's a poor design and I was utterly surprised my Panasonic did this as their previous video recorders/dvd players didn't do this. Of course they could also have provided the 'TV/AV' button on the device in question! |

Thanks for all your comments.
I'll see if I can get used to it, otherwise I'll cut Pin 8 on one of my scart leads. Geoff |

I don't know the device in question but maybe you could try another scart on the PVR. My PVR sends the switching signal via the 'TV' scart but not the 'VCR' scart .
