Pictures on to Mobile

I have just tried to put some pictures on to my Sony Ericsson K850i from my PC, they are fairly large images and when I try to set them as my background picture they are 'blurry' and not the same quality.

One in particular is 2592x3872 on my PC. Is it likely to be because the pictures are too big for the phone and it can't reduce them in size?

When I view the pictures, the phone seems to adjust the quality a bit at a time and then it looks, but when I try to set it as my background it goes back to the poor quality again.

you'll always get the best quality by using a decent graphics ap on your computer to resize to the exact specs for your phone.
