I didn't think it would bother me not having MMS on my iPhone seeing as o2 said you could access the media when sent a link - which I just found out to be untrue as the iPhone wouldn't play the video which was of my son playing with the dog. I was gutted as it would have cheered my day up.

I have 3 days until my 14 day cooling off period is up from when I had my iPhone and I thought of getting a phone as good as it but with MMS.
I saw the X1 and thought it looked as good, and boasting a decent camera and nifty touch screen like the iPhone, however I'm not certain I'm making the right move.

Another thing putting me off the iPhone is having to always sync with iTunes to add stuff on my phone - it's just not as customisable as other phones.

Does anyone here who own or have tried the X1 know if the internet browsing is any good? How is video streaming? I've used the bbc iPlayer a few times on my iPhone but can't watch anything else as it doesn't support flash. Could the X1 stream videos from places such as Metacafe and IGN for example?

I do love the iPhone but I don't fancy being stuck with it for 18 months when I'm not 100% happy with it due to being not capable of easy functions.

Thanks

i have the xperia and i have to say it is one of the best phones i have used to date. BUT!! It is not a practical phone to have when your drunk. Its windows mobile phone so some things can be long winded. It took me a few days to get the hang of it and i still have my n95 for when i will be drinking.

That's ok - I hardly drink! lol

Just ordered one last night to replace my iPhone 3G but they won't be in stock until the 15th. Didn't like o2's customer service to be honest as when I told them I wasn't impressed by the iPhone, they just said, "well, you're stuck with it!"
They soon shut up when I mentioned the T&C of the 14 days

I think the best 3 options at the moment are the Blackberry Storm, Blackberry Bold or HTC Touch G1. It's not about the hardware, it is all about the software. A lot of phones manage the hardware like the iPhone, and you have a nice interface, but then you drill down and meet a typical Windows Mobile interface. The HTC with Android has great potential and both the Blackberry's are now much more consumer friendly while still being business-friendly. Blackberry seem to be the only ones that can compete with the iPhone at the moment until Android starts maturing and comes to better hardware. The only downside to all 3 phones is they are all slightly bulkier than the iPhone but they do have more features. I would go for the Blackberry Storm personally. It has a big touch screen like the iPhone that actually works and the software is pretty nice. The iPhone is still quite a long way ahead in web browsing though. At the moment though I don't think flash is supported on the Blackberry. You can get Flash on the G1.

I had to go and check this was the same CaptnSpaulding that said "I managed to Jailbreak my iPhone 3g easily with that guide thanks guys, but I restored it yesterday as I just couldn't find any use of it".

There is an MMS program available on the iPhone through Jailbreak. There is a customisation program available too allowing you to change almost all the graphics on it.

Go for the X1 I have its 600 mins and unlimited texts plus unlimited internet on vodafone for £35 per month on 18 month contract when i phoned them up. Good phone probably the best i've ever used only thing is though that i cant seem to be able to send things by bluetooth to it as it comes up bluetooth failed but i think i need to set it up right also the internet browser on it never uses wifi but like i say i've prob not got it set up right its like a mini pc and is really good for messenger, solitaire etc.

I've not used the iPhone but by the sounds of it the X1 sounds a better phone Also stay away from O2 I was stuck in a contract with them and the service was bad they didnt care and basically told me im stuck with it. I'd go with Vodafone if your getting the X1.

I had the bluetooth problem too. You need to go into the connection settings and bluetooth is called beem. You need to check the box to allow it to recive files. In regards to WIFI, if it is switched off them it will auto connect using your network. Also there have been reports of the case cracking near the stylus so make sure you inspect that too.
