Amazon.co.uk
I am looking to buy a new digital camcorder for around £500. I have looked at various reviews and articles and they point roughly towards this
In places like Currys it sells for around £550 but on Amazon it's £399. Why is there such a price difference or am I missing something obvious? Also, has anyone here had any experience of the Sony or can you reccomend anything better at a similar price? |

dixons aren't generally known for good deals.
amazon will be much better - they pretty much discount every book by 20% for example. Iain |

I bought a Canon A70 digital camera for about £60 cheaper than on the high street and there was a free 64 mb card included with it. I would certainly recommend Amazon.
I presume the prices are cheaper because they don't have the overheads shops have, though I do remember reading on this site that someone believed the goods were sold from the grey market ie stock destined for Europe as opposed to here but I don't know how much truth there is in this. I don't think the Sony camcorder would let you down at all. Why don't you have a demonstration of it in a shop then if you like it buy it from Amazon? |

once you but a couple of things of the inet, you will use the high street less, and less, most dvd's i buy off play.com for £12-15 these would be £20 in hmv, last year i bought i minidisc player for 145 quid of the i net which was 199 quid in argos, just over 50 quid saved
