Network issues - please help
Hi, for some reason for the last 2-3 hours my connection to my network (3) has been very temperamental. Making phone calls is a gamble as 99% of the time it says 'Connection error', and sending texts is nigh on impossible because the message just won't send. That's not to say that it never works, but it occasionally does. Like when I asked for 3 customer services to phone me - the call came through fine and there were no signal drops or anything while talking to them (She arranged for a 'technical advisor' to speak to me tomorrow, expecting the usual 'have you tried switching the phone off and on' malarkey). Then I had my sister try calling me and she just through to my answer machine.
Strange thing is though I have no actual SIGNAL issues, my phone (N95 8GB) is reporting that I have great signal strength, so I'm really baffled by this. Is there any settings on my phone to 'refresh' my connection of some sort? I've obviously tried switching the phone off then back on after a few minutes but to no avail. Or has anyone got any more ideas...Thanks

When you switch your phone off, its important to take the battery and SIM out for several minutes. This makes sure you 'refresh' the connection.
The other way to do it is to do a network search, when it finds the list of networks, select a different one. When you get the no access message, select your own netwrok instead. |

Thanks for your replies
I just contacted 3 again and I was told a mast is down in my area and that's causing it, and it'll be fixed within 24 hours so I guess I'm ok with that. Thanks anyway

It says request not completed. Dialing anything normally kicks things back to life if your phone lost signal for some reason. I usually press and hold 1 for voicemail as it's free on 3. Or you could dial 333, which is also free. The poster says the local mast is down anyway, so that explains it. |
