Has anyone got any experience with Logik TVs (from Currys)?

I am thinking of buying a L19LID628 19" TV/DVD but I cannot find any reviews.

Thanks
Martin

Looking at other threads here it seems that most of Currys 'cheap' sets seem to be rebadged Vestel clones.
This seems to be a Turkish company, but the sets are made in China (as is everything it seems), going off other threads.

People on these forums who know a lot about tv's (Nigel G, etc) don't like them as much as Sony/Panasonic. I suppose it depends on what your budget is and what your viewing requirements are.

Try looking at tv in store on freeview (rather than dvd feed).
If it looks ok, and there are no horror reviews anywhere, then buy.

If you want best picture and name then plump for Sony 20", but it will set you back £299, with no DVD.

I'm in same boat, looking for something small for bedroom for son and weighing up cost v quality issues.

Some branded lcd sets seem to be just more vestel clones with different case and badge stuck on, so it may be best just to buy the 'cheap' version - as they all appear to be made by same firm!!

You could search for review of vestel 19" lcd tv's and make judgement from that

I bought the L19LIDI8W model a few weeks ago (the one with built-in DVD player and iPod dock). I had a few problems tuning it to all the DTV channels, despite other STBs in the house working fine. It seems that my aerial signal was too strong! I live 10km from Crystal Palace and have a high-gain Group A aerial in the loft, so the signal is pretty good, but I would not have thought excessive. I have solved the problem by fitting 30 dB of attenuation in the aerial line to the Logik, and it now picks up all six MUXs (still has poor reception on MUX A though - the Channel 5, Five US etc. one, on Channel 32 from Crystal Palace).

It seems to me that the input stage amplifier on the Logik is not intelligent enough to adjust for different signal strengths, and just applies a fixed amount of gain, which in my case was too much. But it's a cheap TV so you get what you pay for!

I'm not sure what sort of reception I will get on the Logik when signal strengths are boosted on switchover!

Thanks for your comments.

At present I have Humax 9200T and two Goodmans GDB3 STBs. I think the Goodmans GDB3s are Vestel electronics so hopefully the Logik will be OK. I have a booster/transmitter 400 m from my house. I had to have a amplifier fitted three years ago when I moved in as the signal was not strong enough

The other models (especially the Matsui) look cheap. It looks like the Logik have had a bit of work spent on them in terms of appearance/looks. There was another model which looked OK and was £10 more (TEAC). I did a search on TEAC and I think Currys/Dixon have bought the name so there is no guarantee the electronics are any different to the Logik/Matsuii

I think I will give the Logik a go.

Thanks

Try this one.... at £155.00 its cheapest I have seen.
It uses single chip IDTV solution to tune ATV & IDtV at the same time.
EPG's & menu's are better that Logic.
Reception is OK if you have a decent signal....
I notice another posters comments about attenuator, which can be necessary in Winter Hill area- Winter Hill's ATV output on certain channels can overpower some sets IDTV tuner, resulting in a mux or two not being picked up... by putting an attenuator in, it stops that happening & all mux's can be received.
When swich over happens, ATV signals will stop, making these problems go away.
I would expect the gentleman from Crystal Palace transmitter has the same issue.
