I am Thinking About Gitting Dvd rec with Hdd later in the Summer is this one the Best one 4 A low price Sony is one of my Farvert Maks ?
Sony products cost more but deliver a higher quality, in terms of build, performance and output, that the cheaper brands just can't match.

i have had one problem with my HXD 995, i set dancing on ice to record last sat am, and came home at 10.30pm to find it still recording - ITV, and it therefore hadn't recorded lets dance for comic relief!!! Wasn't impressed!!!

i guess somehow the signal that the program had stopped didn't get sent from the TV people - has anyone else had this problem?

I've noticed that the HXD995 has USB connections. It seems that you can view JPEG images saved on a USB memory stick but does it playback video footage saved on a USB memory stick? If so does it matter which format the video footage is in e.g. AVI, MPEG4 etc?

Cheers.

I've just got the HXD995 and connected it etc but I'm still stuck on 2 issues. I previously had the HXD860, which has been great, and on that machine I could extend the recording time of all timer recordings to overlap an extra 10 minutes. I can't find a way to do this on the HXD995?

Also, a related problem is when I've set a timed recording I'm unable to modify that recording (e.g. to extend recording time) as the 'extend' option isn't highlighted so I therefore can't alter a timed recording length

Please bare in mind that my HXD995 has only been out of the box for a few hours so I suppose I'm still not fully accquainted with it yet

Any help appreciated

You cannot change the start or end time if the timer has 'EPG Link' set. If EPG Link is set and the programme's start or end time is changed by the broadcaster, the timer setting are automatically adjusted. You can set a manual timer if you want full control of start and stop times.

One annoying omission in the latest Sony recorders is the lack of a playlist on the HDD. You may only create a playlist on a DVD- (VR mode) disc.

Hard luck for A-B editing as well. You can't do that on a DVD+ disc. Strangely enough, you are able to do these jobs on my HXD-1065.

Why was that model discontinued and replaced with models that can't do these basic tasks?

It certainly isn't stated anywhere onthe Sony website that the 995 has the ability to playback anything other than JPEGs or sound files from USB.

However, I was in the Sony Centre in Morningside, Edinburgh a few months ago and the assistant assured me that it could play DivX files from the USB, it just wasn't being advertised as a feature. I have found the staff in Sony Centres to be pretty knowledgeable in the past. Has anyone managed to make this work?

How easy is it, to watch and record if you have this model connected to a Sky box?

Thanks
